the only watchtowers where I’ve come across fire-spotters I’ve met before are Mills Peak and the last two years at Weaver Bally … :thumbup

here’s the brand-new fire-spotter from Anthony Peak this weekend, Mr Rick, who has been on the job about a month. turned out he’s one of us, with a ‘74 BMW R90/6. we chatted away for a couple hours:

First ride up Mines on the XR !!! Oooooh it's FUN! :p
Mines was clean, the only exception was just after the 13 mile maker, small rocks and dirt out to the center of the left hand corner.
Was up there about 45 mins or so, got a cheeseburger and coke. Burger was good just don't expect it to be "In-n-Out" fast service.
Get your drink, walk around, look at the bikes and some have conversations with others. (y)
When I left, about 1:30-ish, it was about 90-92 degrees and down on Mines around where the patchwork is there's new tar snakes. Twice, in corners, felt a slight "twitch" on the rear running thru the snakes. Didn't notice this on the way, temps in low 80's and some shade. High temps making them soft, may take a couple of weeks of traffic before they settle down.

Cool, I thought they had all been replaced by cameras and AI.
 
I find it to be a comfortable, reliable appliance.

Picked her up from the Dr today. Doesn't look bad for a $6K repair estimate
