Get Fit, Stay Fit, Feel Good - 2026

Front squats and pause squats make you eat humble pie yet when I see top class lifters lift 2x-2.5x their body-weight in front squat I can not comprehend it
inspirational for sure. i don't know what number i'll end up at, i'm more focused on how i feel and look. so vain! :laughing

I actually had to put on a polo for work today and was like hey this is weird I don't remember the back/chest/shoulder area being so tight before.
i'm looking forward to feeling that about my upper body. i am currently just happy to not have that feeling about my stomach and pants :laughing

Did barbell front squats today. Just the bar, learning the movement. I learned to keep the bar away from my titanium plate on the top of my collarbone. Ouch! :laughing

Same. Right side and yeah...it hurts when there's stuff on it. Said below too: tried a trap bar? I think you're close to me..what gym are you at Chris?

I have that same problem with the bar on my back. I tore some ligament that attaches the collarbone to the shoulder blade and having the bar on there hurts so I have learned to roll the bar lower on my upper back to minimize the pain. It's working so far but not at a really high weight yet so will see if my form needs to be modified later.

Ever tried using the trap bar instead? Or smith machine?

Haven't ever really done barbell work, so can't say that I have tried a trap bar. I am at the home gym :teeth

Are you planning on covering that area before rains come? If so, I've got something for you...maybe.

It’s been uncovered for five years, so not likely to change :laughing

I will probably put in a structure after the fence is replaced (this year) and next year or five the grading/concrete back pad. Not sure of your timeline :thumbup

fitness 19 closed, otherwise I’d probably go there once I graduate from the home gym.

I've got a really nice 4 station Muti gym that's made in the life fitness facilities. Bought it and them the use case disappeared. Thing's brand new...but sitting outside would be shame on it just cause it's more than plates/ bars, etc.

This year has been a game changer

I started out at 26% body fat (I'm using one of those advanced scales, the Hume Health Pod to measure)

I got down to 14%, which is really when I started to see my muscle definition since I have been weight lifting 3 times a week and hiking

I hit a rut and gained 2 lb of fat, so ~15%, but my goal is 13%, 12%, 11% to show off my muscle gain.

Nice work K!
the problem is the stomach and waist still aren't there and its why I hate the scale it never moves.

Pics. It's the pics that give the reward, IMO. The scale can be a cruel and confusing bitch at times.

@two wheel tramp, NBD…give us some details about your new ride.
It’s a Surly midnight special. Steel frame with carbon forks and wheels. Shimano 105 drive train. Very comfy. Has 24 speeds so I’m hoping I can hit the hills around my place in Oregon a little more easily than I have with the 1x11, which I also love a lot.

I named it Badem joon, which is Farsi for eggplant.

@Mike95060, thanks for posting the video. I’m kinda shocked that people don’t understand the benefits running provides that cycling can’t. But in place of running, lifting weights also loads your bones and tendons to strengthen them. I’ve been thinking of adding running back into my overall training, for the very reasons stated in the video and it’s something I can do with my wife.
