** SPOILERS!** Random Motorcycle thoughts unworthy of a new thread

Do we really need a womens racing series?

I do not race, so, is it really that much effort that men and women can't fairly compete on the same circuit due to body strength issues?

Kayla Yaakov is proving we don't in MotoAmerica. She took 3rd in Supersport this year. In fact there are two woman doing well here.

In Europe not so much as far as I know.

In Offroad for sure the women are not fast enough... yet.

In case you missed it MotoGP did their last dance at Philip Island in Australia.
The iconic track is a favorite for almost all the racers on the grid. The fast and flowing track will be replaced on the GP circuit but still in use by WSBK, at least for now.

Below is a wonderful pic from the first race.

Subject: Idea for a 2027 "Ride & Race Calendar" Thread
Hello Moderators,
I wanted to float an idea and get your thoughts before starting a new thread for 2027.
With the forum approaching its 25th anniversary, I was thinking it might be fun to create a "Ride & Race Calendar 2027" thread that focuses on motorcycle destinations tied to motorsports and automotive events throughout the year.
The intent wouldn't be to compete with or replace the forum rallies. Those events already have their own identity and following. Instead, the thread would serve as a running calendar where members could post events they plan to attend and potentially connect with other riders who might be interested in meeting up, riding together, or simply putting faces to screen names.

Just a idea

@CDONA -- I think Pismo is just a bit too small, but I like it. :laughing

@PaulR - Good idea. Might exposed some local stuff to more folks as we have speedway, supermoto and more that are not like crazy far and if folks hook up for the ride it might make for some great days.

Interesting question. Currently, motorcycles are manufactured for male riders. At least the off road bikes are. When I was working with Megs (5'2" 120lbs) she was a brand ambassador for Husqvarna. She was asked to be at an event in SoCal, Husky would pay her airfare and hotel and supply a bike down there. That doesn't work for her since the bikes were all designed for Graham Jarvis. They gave her a terrible time and as a manufacturer you would think they'd understand the level of mods a tiny woman has to make to be fast and proficiant on their machine. Instead they branded her a prima donna.
CF Moto has a handle on this and I imagine that 675Sr-R will be a star in equalizing men and women on the track.

I did watch a bit of this ^

Got to thinking last nite, how many versions were made from this design,
I believe NSU designed it, and plans were distributed as a war prize.
This was the basis of the Scat from HD, two stroke 175, BSA 175/200,
Yamaha's got their version, I took a look @ NSU history, didn't see anything about post WW2, how many more ?

The ABC Superbikers was a favorite of mine as a young adult.
This video, even with it Ai (Not AL Pacino) voice explains it well.
A bunch of various racing videos invade the show, but it still works.

Back in the day when all the big Motorcycle Stars joined in a unique sport that ultimately led to Supermoto Racing.

If you never saw Superbikers the races are out there on YouGube, but the quality sort of sucks. As a 22yo Motocross Racer I did the Suzuki School of MX and we got to run on the Superbikers course. I was midpack on the Carlsbad MX course but I rocked em all on the Superbikers course. Still remember Bob Elliott (instructor) :rose asking me if I ever considered road racing. This stuff was special to me.

I have evolved, like a typical rider does, 50cc starter bike when I was 15, graduated to a Yamaha RD125LC Id ride to the local track and race it, I got my first real sportbike, a brand spanking new 1989 Kawasaki Ninja 600, then a ZX7, then a CBR900RR, VTR996 and now...a little Benelli TNT25. Its not that Im any slower these days its just where I live now, theres really no need for a bigger bike. The roads are terrible, mostly dirt and the paved ones have potholes that can break your rim, no markers, stray dogs, drunk drivers, drunk tourists on quads (who are way worse than just the drunks!), cattle and fallen trees and the occasional landslide. The only racing around is dirtbikes and at this age, I dont bounce of the ground like I did 30 years ago. Im still as passionate about riding as Ive ever been and Im reminded of that daily

riders rarely acknowledge other riders here. mainly because motos are the cheapest for of transportation, so its not really a thing of passion its a basic necessity for a lot of folks. Every once in a while I see a group of ADV riders come thru on big bikes and also tourists on rented CRF 450's with the occasional Royal Enfield Himalayan but other than that, its kids on suped up 200's (by that I mean a lot of anodized purple footpegs and such not real farkle'ing) and whole families grocery shopping. Nobody wears a helmet or reflective sash unless the local Traffic Police are in the area, its a constant game of cat n mouse because Im going to guess than less than 10% of the riders have a license, Marchamo (kinda like required liability insurance but it also provides medical coverage) and DEKRA (road worthy inspection).
How the Traffic Police work here is simple, first offence = roadside ticket, 2nd Offence (or unpaid 1st ticket) = they take the license plate away and then if they catch you riding without a plate they take the bike away and turn it into beer cans! Its all pretty straight forward, everybody knows and they all hate it.
I love it here

I do have a long term dream. Im going to set some money aside and have Bay area friend find me a decent used dual sport, Im thinking XRish kitted out and then meet them at the US/Mexico border and ride the bike all the way here to Costa Rica. I would fly back and ride from the bay are but they wont approve me for a US Visa, bugger if I know why? I was a green card holder for almost 40 years....oh well. Though at this point I'd absolutely murder for an Castillito / El Farolito super burrito... there is NO sour cream here in my part of the jungle. Oh woe is me
Bike/car prices here are bleedin' insane. A '00 XR400 can cost $6k and thats bone stock n all!
