Get Fit, Stay Fit, Feel Good - 2026

Me too.

My phone still remains pretty clean in that regard.
*Shakes fist at the sky* :afm199

I resisted the 24 HR until they forced my hand. If I had a flip phone I would be starting a lawsuit :laughing

Man started up again after weeks on weeks off with overseas work travel and damn leg day killed me again. But back in the swing of it again. for some reason I can't get on board with doing cardio at the gym anymore so thinking about buying a stationary bike and hitting it at home in the morning before work and seeing how that works out. It's probably a time thing as I have only so much time at the gym then need to do other things also at night so have to pick and choose where my time goes.

Really need to up my protein intake I think I am limiting my muscle growth by not tracking my food intake like I should but not sure I want to regulate myself like that but my mind knows if I don't I am leaving a lot on the table with regards to growth. So have to beat my devil inside and listen to the angel more.

Unfortunately, protein powder has gotten a lot more expensive, apparently from a protein shortage.

Costco stopped carrying their Kirkland brand protein powder, it was the best deal out there, then they raised the price of the other protein powders.

Best time to take protein is within 1/2 hour following your workout.

It doesn't just help with building muscle, it's actually helping with recovery which can result in more bulk as it helps in replacing or repairing damaged cells from your workout.

I know I was bummed then they stopped carrying it as it was the best bang for the buck and it was pretty tasty also. at the bottom of my last bag now and dreading the Dynamitize one I have next in line it is super frothy when mixed

beef is what i eat after a workout, everything a growing boy needs :teeth

Today's weekly hike was a tragedy. I dont know why but my lower back was KILLING me the entire time going up, I had to take several breaks just to stretch it out. Zero pain on the way back down, not sure wtf that is about, but its concerning considering I'm in better shape now than when I started hiking, Make it make sense

Are you stretching for pelvic movement needs? Lower back pain like you're describing tends to be muscle spasm pain from pelvic tilt/ left-right height shift, etc. Chiro can help, but so can keeping the all the bands attaching to the pelvis stretched and elongated as much as needed. The boxing would exacerbate the spasms, I'd think.

I have the same issue. Once I learned how to keep things loose, it was the answer to prayers...There's lots of stretch programs for more mature people (like us) on YouTube, etc.

who are you calling mature? :x

Got in a solid workout last night tried some new exercises and its crazy how just changing how you work a muscle shows that not all exercises work all aspects of a muscle group. Also this weird week to week weight difference is weird. One week I can go ham on a particular weight and the next its like I can't do full sets of the same weight. Hopefully my energy levels don't fluctuate that much each week but I soldier on and last night said FU muscles and increased weight all around for everything to show them who the boss was. :laughing

Thats the thing, I Have been stretching, every day. I do have a desk job now but I make an effort to do a 10 minute walk twice per shift, and raise the desk so im standing a few hours per shift as well. My flexibility has gotten better than before, I can almost touch palms to ground, but tight hip flexors have always been a problem for me, i've been doing the 90 90 hip stretches too and one of the progressions for that is to lift the foot pointed back off the ground, I can't do that AT ALL.

My anti-sitting exercises have expanded slightly: weighted leg lifts, hamstring curls, deadlift, and squat. All that keeps my pelvis in a good spot - way better than any stretches ever did.

How long have you been doing that routine?
I just added the hamstring curls like 2 months ago. I found the weighted leg lifts over a year ago. And the coach sent me to the gym to fix back pain almost 2yrs ago. I do them only 1-2x a week.

Everything but the hamstring curls fixed like 80% of the back pain. Adding the hamstring curls got it to 95%. Now the pain only shows up if I’m really mean to my back - like if I skip lifting/stretching/rolling for too long, and take a long flight or road trip, and do a hard race.

There’s one more exercise that helps my hips and in turn helps my back - 7 way hips. I should have added it to my last post.

Took yesterday off from the gym, but still held course on the diet except for having a good time at the bar rocking out. 3 cocktails consumed had me in a good mood.

Back at it today with an upper body workout. Went well, but the shoulder hurts like always.
I really need to find a shockwave place and give that a go to see if it may help.

Robert, I think you'd really like the Monkey Feet with onboard weight. I've been using it for about the last year and like it much more than the original where a dumbell is used as weight.

For the weighted leg lifts (one legged): At home I use a scuba weight belt with 25lbs on it. At 24hr I use a kettle bell. The monkey feet would be more convenient for sure.

added 5lbs to each side today. realized i don't have 25lb plates...5lbs, 10lbs, 35lbs, 45lbs, but no 25!? i'm at 20lbs right now. i have 30 days to get some plates :teeth

at some point i'm going to have to start adding weights for the squat and deadlift and take it off for the overhead press. for now adding reps on my squat and deadlift is still doing the trick...
