2022 - 20 years of barfing review! (+23)

Wow budman! Fantastic super summary of barf history! I can't imagine the time and effort it took you to put this together. Thanks for the reminder of how old we all are :)

Really great read of the BARF history. I propose to make this a sticky, esp. helpful for newbs. I wish I had chose motorcycles back in '01/'02 when instead I chose the jdm scene and would be a frequent lurker on streetracing.org.

Glad you guys are finding it worthy. :thumbup

And yeah... a lot of time went into it. :teeth

Deep dives at night searcing and noting. Making some collages was fun as were looking at some of the OG threads that were still kicking. Quite a few I found would have been fun, but the pics are funkified. :(

We will stick it at some point.

Bud, such a great writeup. That had to take a ton of work! Well done brother... well done indeed! You've been the best thing for BARF and motorcycles in general in my world...so awesome!

Wow, this definitely needs to be stickified!!!

Who is organizing the reunion? 20 years in April for me!!!

Great job Budman!!!

Wow Budman, you outdid yourself, not an easy task. This must of been a herculean effort to gather all this history in one place. Bravo! Got some smiles and a little sadness, going through it and I also have about 10 tabs open of threads I want to revisit. Thank you.

10 tabs. Sounds like me when doing it. :laughing

I am a nostalgic cat for sure. Part of the reason I am so adamant about keeping Barf whole.

I am thinking.....”Makes me happy that folks are enjoying it”. Hey Melissa :wave

Thanks for the memories. Hoping to make a bunch more this year, eh? :teeth :thumbup

Here's to the next 20 years. Happy Birth Day BARF. :ride

Lovely write up! Insanely long. Great to seee this,..
I haven’t read the threads yet .. :laughing but I did look up,through most of the pictures. Yeah, I’ve missed some events … what can we do.

Holy cow, Budman, amazing writeup! :hail

There did seem to be a mass migration away from barf, coincidentally around the time I left the country and easy-online-access for a few years. Many of those folks were active contributors and it has been kind of sad to come back and note their absence - the space they left behind, and their valuable contributions having moved elsewhere.

Your remarks in your writeup brought all of this up again, it really is a bummer and I certainly don't know the solution. I see value in putting energy and time into a community like this vs. giving ones social media presence to an objectively evil platform like [insert "free" social media app]. On the other hand, with so many people withdrawing from here, there is less "going on" to draw more people and posts. Some of the challenge comes from the ability to curate your audience and have private events. Sigh. For my part, I'll make another effort to chime in more often and will probably be cutting the FB cord pretty soon.

I'll see you out on a rally sometime this year, Bud, and thank you for this space where I: *met a bunch of lifelong friends and an even bigger bunch of friendly acquaintances* Got the opportunity to ride in PAKISTAN* Rode with a hooligan who tried to sabotage me with a traffic cone*posted a couple of ride reports* got the scoop on multiple rallies (first one was Paso Robles)* there's more but I need to get away from this screen :laughing Happy New Year, barfers, and Happy birthday to teh BARF.

Glad I made the cut haha. Nice write up Dennis! Happy memories and here's to another decade...or two. ;)

Re. 'Testical's 636, that bike has been passed around more than the neighborhood toss-up. Hell, I owned it twice! :laughing

PS: Still waiting for the publication of TheSteveCo's "Ass Book." :p

Incredible writeup, Budman!! What an awesome look back at 20 years of BARF and all of the miles ridden, friends made, and moments shared through good times and tougher times. Some of my favorite memories are the result of someone introducing me to the BARF community not long after I moved to the Bay Area. Cheers to 20 more years! :ride

I think I was member #6, not sure. My biggest regret was that I was a workaholic. From the time barf started Till I retired at 55, I've had 2 jobs, sometimes two full time jobs. It was nice to retire young, but in so doing I lost precious barf time. I barely had time for a barf ride or even attend a mod meeting. I was lucky enough to keep my trackday love active but it was tough. Steve if you read this , thank you for starting barf, and Denny thank you for taking the helm and making barf what it has become. I love the Barf and I love you man:staRang:love

Man you are old!!:laughing

Just spent several hours digging into old threads and memories. :ride:teeth:mad:cry :laughing Thank you so much for putting this together and keeping BARF rolling over the years. This community has been an invaluable part of so many lives - looking forward to 20 more.

What a great history! Great job, Bud!
