So here we are…. Holidays done and a new year to enjoy.

The Backstory: IN 2001 there was a group of guys from the Bay Area who hung on SBN and got to know each other. I was in a Yahoo Club myself... remember those?? Geez I was still getting spammed 5 years ago from it..:laughing When Steve Cole (theSteveCo) decided to start something local for the dudes that chatted up there.

But...what should they call it?? Since I was not there I am shooting from old memories here, but I did see early banter about it. I believe it was MackeyStingray that suggested Bay Area Riders Forum (barf) and I believe he actually designed the barf logo as well. He was one of the early Moderators, became a racer and I remember well when he fell asleep at the first ever Mod meet I attended... we all made fun of him. Photo OP!!! :laughing.

Anyways Steve was a little resistant on Barf, but caved eventually. His work put together a package with VBulletin software and when barfed launched on Jan 2, 2002 I believe there were 5 dudes that chimed in. So Happy BDAY BARF!! 20 years later we have a few more than 5 guys....

There has been a lot of life played out within our digital landscape and in the world we actually share outside that. We have seen kids born, marriages, people pass, human kindness shared, the passion of racing, the banter of politics and the fight for our rights as American motorcyclists. Collecting these threads and sharing those times again was fun work.

A lot of folks say.. man I liked barf the way it was in the old days. Everyone knew each others and we all got along and we did not need any stinking rules...:laughing

Well not 100% correct. Just for fun....Here is the first ever barf wide posted announcement by Steve in Jun of our birth year. I had been a member for about a month.

Shape up or ship out!
theSteveCo said:
I'm not, in the slightest, amused.

My first response is this, a request for the people here to recognize that this flaming of late is not why BARF exists. We are about rides and socials. The people responsible for the recent change in spirit are not people you will ever see at a social or on a ride, so I'm not really sure why they're here or even how they found us.

My second response will be to spend a week or two cleaning our site... deleting posts, locking out users, etc. I'll later publish all these posts in a book called "How to Look Like an Ass".

My third response will be to make BARF an invitation only site, where new members are not welcomed with open arms, but reference checked by the moderators.

I don't think any of the people who have been here for a long time want that. If you find yourself saying "so" or "who cares", you are probably one of the people I'm talking about.

Sorry, people, for the inconvenience. The losers should be gone shortly.

So you can see the flaming and crap has been happening a long time and it is not why BARF exists. We are about bikes, rides, socials, doing other things with like minded people and have fun, but it is the internet and the keyboard is mighty so I expect we will always have those moments.

I do smile when folks clamor for the good old days. Having lived long enough I know know these are going to be the good old days 5 years from now. :laughing So enjoy them!!

One of our first members is still active once in a while and he appears in many of the meet collages I put together below. The man never changed his avatar either. magyarbetyar did his Mod duty for a good long spell and if you see Mod Alumni in a profile / under a members avatar, then you will know those members gave time to support teh barf, and I for one appreciate it much.

Lets rock this. :thumbup

2002

The Pace showed Barf was cognizant of the dangers of our chosen hobby/lifestyle/ form of transportation from the beginning.. That being an acknowledgement that moto's are dangerous. Hella fun, but dangerous.

Stunting was actually a large part of the barf user segment and interest in it was hot... well hot when you have a dozen members or so.. KXP was the first Mod of the madness and he made a decree. Portformance/Matt was actually really good at it and the BTB was the official crew of the early days of barf. Kalamari Kid was good too.

SnellBux meets started before I joined and was one of the things that I think made barf something solid. The face to face meets created a solid base of friendships that Steve relied on to help Moderate the forum. Look at the Mod Alumni members in this early thread.

There were a lot of meets actually. SF / East Bay and on the Peninsula too. Folks would often travel to join the fun.

We started welcoming new members in 2002 as well. http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3039
I am still quite diligent at saying hello to :newbie newbies

Barf grew pretty quick, and by May Steve was fighting server issues. Several people offered donations including myself.

Pic of yourself thread the early days!

Barf was not all serious for sure...The funniest pic thread - NSFW (added later) still remains a place where we get a little raunchy.

What does your name mean? This came up in a different thread in 07 which is still getting replies. OG's (Founding members) in this one.

I tested the waters of who was out here with this one Did you Play Me?

Group Rides:
Lots of places to find them these day, but in 2002 there was just one place that really rocked them.

Here is another Announcement by the SteveCo on March 19th 2002:
theSteveCo said:
Over 1,000,000 served I can't keep up with the stats anymore. Just the other day I was wondering when we'd surpass a million hits.. we did it yesterday.. DAMN!

Keep it up guys, in no time I'll have to sell both my bikes, my Jeep, AND my Porsche to foot the bill for this server!

Over the years we have always been fond of humor. Barf jokes, internet memes continue to this day. Fun stuff. I collected a few and threw them into a collage. A higher res version is available if you want one.

Racers and X Racers check in.
This was the thread that turned barf in a slightly different direction – it brought the knowledge that there were some passionate people here – RACERS. You those crazy folks that challenge one another and themselves in sporting venues made for such. Many have come and gone leaving a glory trail or sometimes sometimes heartbreak, but all stepped up. A New Years goal is to add all those that have posted on the thread to the first post list. So if you have not checked in do so. Upload a pic too! <<-- I said upload because then it will remain past your photobucket account because barf is not going anywhere soon!

You will see more of our appreciation for racing showcased below. Old Race photos, USGP Photo’s, AFM historical photo’s. All this from a rookie forum dudes question wondering if there were others like me here. This launched me into barf in a serious way too. All of a sudden there was a Racers Corner and very soon I became a mod. :wow

There have been so many great race reports – GoGo gets my nod as the best of our history, but before him there was Gary J and many others sharing their fun with other barfers. These reports no doubt inspired other to dip their toes into racing. Some going all in. :cool

It also brought out that Trackdays are good. Better than railing HWY 9 in terms of safety and you can really enhance your skill set when the clutter of the roads are exhanged for the race track. I was big into trackdays back then and in fact I joined as budmanR6. Here is one thread about the track.
Ultimate Bachelor Party My best bud gets married and we don't do strippers - we rock the track.

2003 brought us a few things. Baptistro and I joined Steve as the 3 amigo's who were guiding the ship known as :barf Our TOS started to evolve a bit and Bap got his own smilie because he took on the task of suspending people :Bap I never have liked doing that myself, because I want people to have fun here and I have enough time as an authority figure as a Father. :teeth

Trackdays
became a part of barf's culture right away. No better place to learn to go fast than the track....look who is at this track day!! So very cool!!! :wow

Magyarbetyar is in house!

picture.php

Pretty soon ZZ and PTT became partners of barf and have been for a long time. Many other groups provide a great service to riders (Feel like a Pro, Feel like a Pro Dirt, Mystery School, Garahan Offroad, to name a few). Barf believed that getting out to the track and on a dirt bike is the best way to master controlling a two wheel machine and still does ;)

Mi Vida Loca ( my crazy life) by 280SQUAGGLER was a hit for sure. :laughing
Ricky rocked the lifestyle with this thread, which became a barf classic. It still is thanks to the old practice of actually linking your pictures. Still a fun read… and now Ricky has a shop and was a barf sponsor for a while! RMC MOTO - plug for you brother!

It also brought us our first real event/ride. Ride for Life We did it in coordination with the Rotary club as a fund raiser for their polo vaccination effort. It was the second time integrating motorcycling with that effort for me, the first being an AFM race in ’88. The Elks lodge in Palo Alto was the ending venue for the BBQ and Pit Ho emerged as a great logistic helper for me /barf. Great food and some good music underneath a shady park environment made for a damn good time.

Doc Wong has been doing work shops on riding and maintenance a long time!! The amount of activities he has done over the last two decades that revolve around riding is amazing. :hail
Doc and long time friend Keith Code

G-Force seemed to like Paddock Girls

Growing pains still were there and while barf had very little advertising (if any??) when I penned this thread asking for donations. Being a barf Contributor..Why not?. That started a campaign to gather a few bucks and created a tradition since. All the money went to Steve as I as still just a member/ Mod. Those contributions have help barf keep our advertising to a minimum and I believe that has led to a much tighter community.

Oh wait...280SQUAGGLER was not done. Vida local II comes back for more!!

We did some cool stuff in meat space too!:
barf games was born. It was awesome fun

Challenge 1
Challenge 2
Challenge 3
Challenge 1 Submission thread this is where the poll pics the winner!! = NOID!

BudBandit was one of barf's earliest Group Ride dudes.

It did not take long to recognize that getting dirty was awesome: Enter the Dirty Barfing. We heard the calls for it!! MetcalfRangers started giving trail condition updates in 2011. Your tax dollars doing some damn good work!!! Thanks guys!!! You Rock!

Motorcycles started being sold on BARF in 2001 they were scattered throughout the general forum (kind of a PIA). In 03 we started a specific forum for sales. MotoJava an early sponsor, took advantage of it.

We still offer ads for free and just ask for a 1% contribution upon a sale. Craigslist can kiss my ass!! :twofinger. Thanks to all that have been honorable enough to throw down the 1%. Those that have not.....Sup?? :teeth

Auntiebling has been working the forum for a while now and his sharp eye and keen sense of what should or should not be in an ad is very appreciated. The classifieds have now expanded to include all kind of things and bikeama has been a big help over the last few years too.

Curve Unit announced their launch on barf[

97rr (Anthony Alonso's Dad) brought us MotoGP news often Is Rossi the greatest ever? Amazing to think that 18 years later Rossi just retired and most fans would now say NO DOUBT! Sorry Ago.

97rr was the man in those early years for Race Reports on barf. :thumbup
Thanks Ivan!

Oh yes we were. Seeing barf was still struggling, but was so damn cool I asked Steve if he needed a financial boon. He was getting serious with his lady and life was transitioning and I think he saw a passion in me and said yes. I became a partner with Steve and things were jumping. :banana

The fun was still the flava of the day though!!
Thoughts of this photo? One of barfs classic "we are having fun now" threads.

Beside the AFM stuff below, Steve and I were doing our own vids.. lousy 8mm shit, but we were having fun. There are 8 episodes buried in the vault
Here is episode 3 which is the only one that still loves on. :( They were filmed in BARF HQ which was just down the street from my office. A lot of work went into the space and after a while $$ meant letting it go. It was fun while it lasted.

Doug like a trooper just grinned and beared it. :laughing

How Many of you are lifers.? That thread has been kicking around lately as well. 'Cuz I bumped it :p

fr0ng kicked of some good Ducati hate with *2004* Why is it that at least half of all Ducati riders can't ride for chit?

Barf has always loved animals: Sport bike kittens F4iChic has been a huge animal advocate over the years and who knows how many animals have been placed in homes because of her effort and barfers big hearts. She has rocked in more ways than just that. ;)

Seems barf liked guns too BARF Militia

Name 5 people on BARF that you would like to meet

KS Party #3
The KS put on some epic parties... :party

June chili cook-off / barf meet
Matt suggest closing a street down for a stunt show and damn if we didn't make it happen. We did slow races too! PICS

Curveunit Bbq & Pool Party
Curve Unit once again appeared here We are playing NICE now barf was not as Civil, PC or whatever you want to call it. Prepare for banter and no getting mad allowed.

We did lose a friend in Iraq. Andrew Dang was a BARFer and a US Marine. :flag
Godspeed Andrew :rip

Racing
2004 in the AFM we almost lost a friend
Bill Fordyce this amazing moment was captured by long time AFM photo Guru Gary Rather. "Wild Bill" still wears white at the AFM races as an AFM official and every time I see him I smile really big, because I knew he was saved by the quick action of the corner workers and paramedics on hand that day and that has allowed his passion to be shared by hundreds or perhaps thousands of Racers since.

The AFM is racing history
The 50th reunion website is gone, but most of the pics still live here.!! The 50th party was way cool and Kevin Smith (then AFM president) made a very cool movie we share on the Saturday night. We shared a teaser that Antoine Miller of Vision Wells made about the movie we were doing and it shredded. So very stunning it was. Where ever you are Twon :hail

What is this BarfRACING thing?? Well it was media, reporting, videos, fun and racing!! And a lot of work!!! When I said I would be a reporter for barf, theSteveCo crafted a website and we went to work. Somewhere in cyberspace these things still live. A hardcore group of friends went to work with us to report on AFM racing.

Soon it turned into a race team when I saw a post by Mikey Judkins saying he needed a motor and I had one. I said "hey Steve I got this motor and this fast kid needs one how about a race team??" Next thing I knew theSteveCo and I had a RACE TEAM! We had bikes to paint and Bobby Keith at CYCLE FINISH came thru. Thanks Bobby!!

Steve Conk was my man recording lap by lap records of almost every class. The hours he and I put into those articles. Holy cow. Thanks Conk!!! My good buds Danny Fernandes and Mark Lawrence stepped in to help us help the racers. I don't know how many Pit Ho hot dogs we ate over the next 5 or six years. :laughing

When Vision Wells showed at the first race with video cameras and no plan I helped crafted one and Jay, Antoine and I put out the AFM year in review. Thousands of hours went into a DVD that probably sold 200 copies, but it was fun. I wrote and narrated it, Antoine and Jay edited, developed the graphics and of course filmed it and we had AFM star David Stanton on the cover. What a task. I could never dedicate the hours I did back then now. So glad I got to do it. It all started when Antoine said "We need someone to do interviews" and the never shy me said I can do it! :banana As if I did not have enough to do. :laughing Hoping the short version will end up being shown at the AFM's 75th anniversary. I hope I will too! :teeth **Edit I just watched some of it.. awesome! Forgot we had lap description by Rob Mesa and Dave Stanton. Forgot I wrote the entire movie script without seeing any video and then had to slam it home!**

Even theSteveCo got on it and he documented it in Rookie Racer (links to the vid are dead).
He seemed pretty nervous that day, but he was nothing, but smiles after. :teeth x 10

I do hope the effort on the articles and videos was appreciated by more than just me. Ha! I wanted to keep it going but I had to make a living. We had a few volunteers along the way. Thanks all! ( I still have the server that held it all.. perhaps one day I will try to retrieve it all).

And thanks to the sponsors that made our Race team a reality! Specially AFMmotorsports (Alex) / Fred's Place (Paul) and CycleFinish (Bobby). Even Melissa through down too..Cha Cha! :teeth

Sorry for the long blather.:teeth

2005

Barf was continuing to grow, but the issues were getting harder to deal with.

In May or so barf crashed. I was getting calls and had zero damn info on what to do. JacktheTripper got me the info I needed. Our servers were leased and sitting in LA and there was a 6 month bill due so they shut us down. I called the guy and gave him a credit card number and he lit us back up.. :wow

However the spotty service and crash left a bunch of people worried about barf future. Some Users stepped up and started a fundraiser... Hawkgirl was an amazing Mod (social gatherings). She lit up the SF community and created a big following. Forever she will be a special part of barf history. She and cat_in_sf just went so far to help get barf back to health. They handed me a pile of money for barf that would change our direction forever. :hail Pics

Since I was not a tech guy I needed help and Nexus/Tom stepped up as did Valgar to get us going in the right direction. WTF's up with the server? I moved this out of the Mod Forum so you could see who was there in those hectic and stressful days.

Nexus purchased a server, got me hosting, and worked for a couple years behind the scenes to ensure barf would live! Thanks Tom!!! SO MUCH!! Dave/Valgar did the day to day stuff and has continued to tackle our problems since.. more on that later.

We still have time for fun though. Here is some of it:
How about the ~Firt Annual KILT Ride Photos~

The Dirtbag Challenge lit some folks up!

Old Race Photos
As race fans this thread hit us in the stomach. For those that were not race fans it probably raised an eyebrow. No doubt barf has inspired a few riders to go see some racing or actually RACE themselves.!

Personality of the Week
Photoshop classics… this tradition gets lit up now and again. Barfalicious fun for all! :banana ...and again with valgar

What are you thinking? Keeping tabs on your thought for well over a decade.!

Liam's Wild Ride still remains as one of barf's best ever threads IMO. Liam dropped all and chased his dream and we were lucky enough to go with him!!! Truly a dynamic thread that took barf into the pit of MotoGP – Total awesomeness!!!

The Cold Shower by Feanor thread was...a... well.. I don't even now how to describe it really. A true barf classic and a story of who the hell is Feanor?? :laughing Got some time... good read.

I must include fr0ng. I saw him on a flight to COTA with Ducky Fresh and crew just a couple years ago :cool

Good question How serious do you take BARF? It starts like this...."Really... to me it just seems people are so goddamn sensitive, it's pathetic." :laughing

And this follows it up nicely....you people all fuckin suck

Remember La Ducati Day 2005 in La Honda JohnC was quite the organizer. First time I rolled out a barf booth I think.

SLOSHBALL pics:party
Wait.. there is more SLOSHBALL pics!
And MORE PICS

A lot of SF Barfers we at the first barf wedding Cat & Pete wedding pics

Race stuff:
Another awesome GoGo racer report to wrap up 2005. All the pics are dead :cry

2005 Old school on board video of a 600 Production Race at THill. Mikey Judkins battles with future barf Racers Kenny Carlotta and Berto Woolridge. Thank goodness on board camera's have improved!

Felipe Cabezas/Mistico gave us our first Barf Racing Podium and Victory. His season was cut short though needing to go back to South America for family stuff.

Mikey Judkins hit his first podium. He is a great guy and will always remain a special dude to me. We just exchange message (he is in Texas) perhaps COTA will reunite him, Danny and I will share a :Port with him.

Oz gave us some sweet AFM pics
Mike Solis/ MrCrash was delivering Race Results on barf and for City Bike = Peak at FP and the 600's and other classes to see some good folks hauling the mail!... and if you want see pics check out what BigOz gave us!! Still linked..:banana

And Vision Wells stuff can still be found if you look hard enough!! F-IV Shawn Reilly on the Buell by an inch at the line. Plus you get to hear Fosgate say "Psychedelic Centipede" :thumbup

And remember James Cornell and Dawgpound Racing?? James was the first barfer to be hurt at the Isle of Man. Barf helped with a fund raiser for him. Sorry the vid is dead. :(

If you want to search for this stuff you can go to the bottom left of any forum where it says threads.
Click on the date - typically set for last month.
Go to "beginning" and then "show threads" and then go to the right and hit the last page = time warp.
Enjoy, but lets not start getting to crazy --OK??

2006 brought stability to barf.. and that felt good. Phew!

Because shit was about to hit the fan!!!

woody @ Live 105 lights up the moto community. Open the door on lane splitters you say??
Don’t fuck with us by opening your car door!!!! That message was loud and clear to Woody at live 105. The country watched barf as we bashed the morning DJ :kicknuts The solidarity of motorcyclists was on display here.

White Menace his young side kick on the Morning show worked hard over the next few years to make amends. Barf Podcasts from the studio, shout outs to barf - I think he even took the MSF.

Other threads kept us entertained thankfully.

2006 also saw the Crash Analysis Forum added...

...and the LEO forum
Here is the thread that started the it. I had taken over for theSteveCo, but it was not well known as of yet and I soon made the request officially accepted. The LEO Forum has been huge deal for barf IMO.

.. and the Training Forum was launched too. We changed the name to riding skills early in '16. Enchanter has made some great suggestions for this stuff and this, crash analysis are just a couple of them.

Oh Yeah.... we had a Mod meet in 06 to get things going and a new class of Mods were brought in too. We were busy! Many of those Mods continue to help barf thrive as Admins. I continue to be humbled by their support. Thank you!

In the best of best of barf vids if you look under MotoGP and you can find my interview of Nicky Hayden. What an awesome experience thanks to REPSOL. I did Pedrosa too in 08'. The Hayden interview is of the best personal moments barf has ever brought to me!! (That don't include dear friends or two wheels -;) )

Oh we had a party!!! :party Barf bash baby... DedRinger played, so did the Twofingers (barf dudes) and a young metal band Angst (15 year olds that fricking rocked)!!! Here are some Pictures MiniBarf represented!! Even more awesome Pictures
Dennis Anderson hooked us up with Honda of Milpitas. Dennis and I raced against each other back in the day and remained friends for life. :rose

Count Chocula went down by the wall and got real busted up. There was a few fundraisers thrown to help support his recovery. I know Mark still lurks once in a while. Hope you are doing well.

Racing
Enter the Bobby Fong era of our race team. We changed from barfRACING to NetMoto because Suzuki said they would never sponsor something called barf. :laughing Mike Solis was still writing for RRW and posted on barf too check out the 600 classes for some bad ass talent. 06 was a fun and challenging year for sure. Seeing Bobby win at COTA some 10 years later was cool as hell. Here is our race report for the first round. Check out Andy Carman's off track mud run. :wow with AC and Bobby we were pretty solid. There is lots of great stuff in this early years. If you want to go back and look just adjust your thread setting to "beginning" and work back. Hundreds of pages of AFM history to be had.

Which is fitting, considering that's what BARF gives ME!!!

Tiered license system could be on the way.
Been 15 years.. not happened yet.

How did you come up with your barf handle?. I have to go reread this on myself just to read what I said. :laughing

Interesting conversation about an A or B pace on HWY 9. Live & Learn, & Then Get Loves...(Accident Story with pics) Pics removed by OP, but the community comes out quickly with sight lines, there is no A or B pace on the street etc.

Lanesplitting has been a topic for quite a while. Lane sharing in the Contra Costa Times again A lot of people said "we don't need a bill (AB51) it is already legal" when we started to argue (work with Quirk) to get the Bill we wanted. Bottom line to me is this needed to happen.

When Craig Hightower was killed by a unexpected collision with a driver a lot of us long term experience rider felt a little mortality bite. He was a well known rider and friend to many barfers. Having Mom and Dad reach out was special and we have seen families do that before. Part of the reason we put RIP threads in the TOS.

Net-Moto / Barf racing what's happening for 2007

2007 brought Kenny Carlotta ( and Ricky Corey for short while) to our team. Kenny did the west coast AMA stuff to. Lots of AFM Racers on those grids. Hope Moto America can make that happen again. Kenny took a 10th down at Fontana and was hoping for better back at Infineon. However a bent rim killed his chances, but hey Baptistro, Bill Swim and Pit Ho all still had some fun.

Kenny and Larry were fun to have in our pits. Pit Ho was still cooking, Danny still working on bikes and stuff.

2008 FRICKD'UPS Crazy motorcycle adventures in Thailand Life lived in this thread. I just realized I know one of these guys in the thread now, but not when the thread was posted. :laughing :cool

2008 meant it was time to party…. BARF BASH!! At MDK. Twofinger played again as did DedRinger. Roundboy brought his band as well. Mucho rock n roll. Slow race with a turn.... amazing day!! :party

Cal 24 BARF Style gave us an insight into aciurczak's awesome adventure.

You can go 210 mph wth the right kind of sprockets.

Jim Race was the man in the early days of total MotoGP fandom on barf. This thread and it photoshops made press worldwide. Some pics are gone :rant but plenty of good stuff remain to enjoy it again and again. He and I ended up and Indy MotoGP together where we filmed this interview with MotoLiam.

2008 also brought us the first ever barf rally… It is a tradition of fun, smiles and miles that lives on today!

We name it the Rydther Rally after loosing our friend Bill Lockwood .

Carnage on the road created 1Rider and thanks to SilverSVS's telling somebody about it barf was invited to step up and it brought 1Rider and me into the moto safety world. You can see the presentation (well part of it) I gave to the Office of Traffic Safety at the first ever California Motorcycle Safety Summit. Com3/ Joe /4Theriders provided me some on board vid footage that was vital - Thanks man!

Speaking of the above barf came out with Squid Juice and we gave it away as part of our safety patrols. Bet there are few bottles still around.

And like almost every year we saw the sad too, as we lost Phuzzy3d and well liked east bay rider Jim Perry :rose

In the movie he beat Andy Carman to the line at Thill to win the 600 C'ship by a fricking 1/4" It was close. I know because AC bought 3 copies of the video to see if it was different in any of them....:laughing Love you AC!!

A couple rallies are always good.

I drafted Holeshot, Firstbuell, Butch, CTS488 and other barfers to join me depending on the subjects.

Weaklink hit us with a barf is still awesome right before the year expired. Seeing Lylith post in it made me smile.

Losing Cygnus did not make me smile. The long time member and friend to so many left a hole in barfs heart.

Memorial Ride for Joe Montoya December 3rd this was a cool deal. So many old Racers and friends. We did a lap of honor at Sears Point. I was right at the front with none other than Gary J. The raceway fed us and allowed us to use the garages to gather. JOMO was not only a former AFM President he was a historical figure to me because he was the man when I raced.

Here is a nice Vid of the Ride.

2011 We asked for Barfs #1 road to ride

The 2011 Khan f’ing rides to Pakistan thread is an amazing tale of true love of two wheels. A student barfer decides the best way to get back home is to ride and he chases the fun through blizzards and more on his journey back home. Khan will be back BTW.

My Dub dub dub laid out what I thought we were in 2011. I think it still stands.

Wendy / F4iChic opened her house for a BBQ Bake Sale Fundraiser to help a special dude. It was a remarkable day - make sure to check out the pics later in the thread. Also here is the backstory on carries an axe

We had a Barf Bash too! Barf Bash 2011 -- Sat, May 21st in Livermore :party

Of Course DedRinger played!

We had teh barfTONES play too. TZRider, Rythem Rider and Kornholio came together to rock a BB.
Many Barfies were handed out and you can see the winners in these awesome photo's by Tanya <-- Thanks for always taking awesome pictures and keeping them hosted!

We added the Riders on the Mend Forum at the suggestion of carries an axe /Adam. He continues to show me what real bravery is and is one of our most valuable and active Mods too!! :Port

Silversvs is at it again, Special Olympics fundraiser What a good man.

BigB has been holding Mellow group rides for a while.

The first rally of the year took us to Quincy. We ran into a snow storm and left our new Aussie friend behind. Wise choice. ;)

Hawthorne in September was becoming a thing. Want to watch a long vid.. of me...riding :laughing Pit Ho does the opening on his last journey to Hawthorne the hit Budman tards it on Sonora Pass!! I remember well getting to Hawthorne and finding that some barfers found for the first time... I really could ride.!
Some barfers late getting out of Hawthorne and caught some hail and this became a classic.

Halloween is always a good day to dress up and ride!

We lost our bud Silly Sod :(
And lot's of us knew and saddened when Jim Lindemann went to do suspension work for a higher power.

Jeff Tigert wrote this about former AFM Racer turned AMA race director Cool article with AMA's Kevin Crowther I wrote a recent update myself X- AFM Racer Kevin Crowther appointed AMA Director of Racing

Siggy gave us this very cool link to a sponsor vid Cool Promo Video for Boulder Motrsports of course his Ducati was featured :thumbup You the man Chris! :thumbup

We also saw one of many fundraisers for injured racers posted on barf Tyler O'Hara 2011 Fundraiser Info Haskovic, Kling, Stanton are just a few... we are proud to be a conduit for support.

How about a barf 24 hours endurance team?? BARF 24 hour endurance team. There was no barf when I did it back in '87, '88 and '89 but we were the Bay Area Fast Boys... oh yeah!!! ... and we were on bigger bikes. :teeth

MotoGP R1 If Rossi can't tame the beast?

Even a former AMA pro racer has to go to AFM new racer school Kazman is back in the game.

How about a Sears Point track walk with Dave Stanton

Barf supports young gun Tyler Linders in WERA.

One of the craziest crash sequences I have ever seen. Berto from one bike to another.

2011 Siggy wins the AFM #1 plate just hanging around Siggy, Berto and their guys was a pleasure. Watching them do their business on the track ... amazing. :applause

Pirelli played a big part and Alex from Fastline was always on the BMW making it sing. Our first year as the Formula Pacific Sponsor and we get #1 too. Sweet.

How about we invent something?? AMA O/MC #0001!! In the effort of continuing to be different and meaningful and after the third try I finally was successful in getting the AMA to create a new class of club.!! The Online Motorcycle Community was born. 10 years later we are still the the best one too. :teeth

10th Anniversary SF party pics. Man what a great time we had!!!

The Image of the day thread was a winner from the Political Forum, but we ended up recycling it because it was causing so much angst. Yup. Barf and politics. It became so pervasive that we had to move it out of the sink because people were getting pissed. Heck we ended up banning a couple of total political :loco users because they just would not stop spamming the sink. The separate forum worked better. However there was some heat there. Trump vs. Clinton divided more than the country.

Woodschick took some time off of riding / writing her epic ride reports and created this AFM history classic Old AFM Photos

Thanks to Cycle Gear's support we get more political and we started acting on many moto issues. This one is interesting it is about Carnegie and we are still involved 4 years plus later.

SLOSHBALL

Of course we still have time to ride. The 2012 Spring Rally Vids (lots of Rally stuff in the best of barf!!) - come ride with us!

And of course the Rydther Rally in the fall.

The :twofinger BARF Salute thread shows a lot of barfers smiling and flipping. How that became the barf salute is up for debate. The finger has been a prominent figure in American Motorcycling for a long time. Easy Rider was the first time I really noted it myself. Below is a collage of the fun that is way smaller than the actual artwork if I can call it artwork. :p If you want a full size copy email me. Happy to send it!

We launched the Gone But Not Forgotten Forum A great idea by Enchanter and Silversvs comes to reality. Part of the reason was that we lost an Icon in Gary J Miss you man. Still think I will see you when I pull into 4 corners.

The same day a thread for Gary J Pics went up.

In August Jill reached out to barf for peace, support and....?
WHY Gary J? Her pain made me appreciate the moments shared in life. Probably one of my most heartfelt posts.

I lost a dear friend Pit Ho as well. Life was altered for me in terms of seeing a good friend almost everyday and help doing a lot of stuff. :(

And the passing of left a hole in our hearts.

Barf Member Jonko took us on an incredible life journey of travel, love and riding some amazing race tracks. He went quiet for a while and we hoped his journey had swung in a positive direction, because he never said it sucked. His positive outlook on life when it is waning is hero movie worthy. Godspeed man.

Pete showed some of us still have Faith in Humanity

The Gary J memorial was a special day in terms of the community showing love for a lost brother. ❤️
GaryJ - A Celebration of Life This continues every year. I have missed a couple, but alway wish I was there to celebrate knowing a great dude. Watching the AFM 2004 video quick interview at the beginning with Gary makes me smile.

New forums??...how about the Vintage Cafe?? And Spec ECU asked about having a spot for racing's fans die hard race fans. The Couch Racers corner was created and he made a Mod for it. We enlisted flat track and RR historian FirstBuell too. Long time member Kevin714 soon became the biggest contributor and now is a famous podcast dude. BrotoGP baby!

We still were working on Moto safety and 2013 brought us the Lane Splitting Guidelines Barf members actually had some big impacts on this and our strength in State moto actions began to shine.

Pakistan Tour - Barfers join Khan for adventure of a life time.. you need to check this out!

And as usual I did the Year in Review Some good pics and memories.

Racing
My long time friend and now barf mod Eric Kondo was enjoying his 50 is nifty tour and providing barf with some awesome race reports/vids R2 Report - Yin and Yang is just one of the examples of his creative work (THAT RACE SPONSORS LOVE!!)

Anthony Alonso was off on his Red Bull Rookies Cup journey. I happened to be at COTA for the first Round.

Brandon Kyee was one of the young guys that barf tried to help do his thing in Europe and of course it takes big money and awesome parents. He had the latter and could not make it work, but he did try and now doubt has some good memories from that. Here is one of the challenging ones. World Superstock 600 Monza Race Report

Another young gun was finding his wings. 4 wins + 4 seconds = 8 podiums at NOLA for Tucker Lancaster.

Frozenuts was hitting his stride as a race photo dude becoming BARFracing's photo guru. You can see the size of his .. um lens.. if you scroll down in this thread Round 7 pics...Now with Photos. Max has given me some of my favorite memories.. thank man. Koi has too.. thank you..! and before them Com3 and before him Gary Rather and before him Rob Hardy (80's baby !! - Gary was there too. :wow)

Barf Member Jeff Tigert took Pikes Peak Glory I dusted off my journalistic talents to write about it Tigert Rocks Pikes Peak.

For real this time 2013 was cool...Think Isle of Man - barfer - Allan Cunningham

He followed it up in 2014
My Manx schedule I wrote about his 2014 journey The Isle ... The Man. Man vs. the Man Allan became our second member injured at the Isle (that we know of) and thankfully he is still here posting. The Scot has grit..:thumbup

Another man with grit is the Butcher. Dave Stanton. The cover model of the 2004 movie and seasoned Pro/ multiple time AFM CHAMP/ WERA Endurance star was seriously injured. I am not going to get into that, but what I do want to share is the passion for the man that poured out. Save the Date STANTON BENEFIT. Dave is loved. His Valentino Rossi lap of Sears point in the '04 film had me in stitches OMG. Pics from the event are here .

Ricky Corey took the championship and a really cool video is in this thread. The battles we saw in '13 were pretty epic.

2014 brought us something really special: The Barf Meet Up at Flying Horse Farms was the best barf event that I never had to not do a thing at. :banana Horsepower opened her home and heart for our community. An amazing show of barf love. I am forever indebted to her.

Worst April Fools joke ever . The worst part being so many people believed I would sell out :twofinger

Pakistan Tour 2 was in the books.

Every once in a while an old barf concept pops back up. Still a hoot!!! I present Omar I might add Roman is Barf's biggest contributor over the years. Thanks so much my friend and to all that have helped barf live on thank you as well.

San Francisco Motorcycle Club - Est. 1904 is awesome and so is SFMCJohn. His ride reports, Vintage work as a Mod and member are so appreciated. See him in Hawthorne this year was icing on a very cool cake :banana

Group Ride Mentality once in a while I can be preachy. In a kind and thoughtful way usually. :teeth

We gave the AFM an official place to chat.

I was worried the Racers corner would turn to crickets... that did not happen, but it has slowed down. I have to think of something to wick it back up. Best race report of each AFM Round... yeah I thought of that, but would it just mean giving all the money to GoGo?? :laughing

Barf Bash 14 :party

Some members got together with Zoom Zoom and a newb trackday was put together. Free track day with Z2 for a n00b. -- ** Winners chosen ** What a great thing to do... getting people to the track creates better riders -- No doubt. You guys rock! PICS

Imagine how fun it was for me to see Anthony Alonso in the 2014 COTA Red Bull Rookies Cup. The Krazy Cid had been our longest running sponsored rider and he was stepping up to the world stage for REAL. He found that those guys were fast!!!

GoGo is still the man with the race reports.. you are amazing man. AFM round 3 - CHAIN GANG

The AFM was back at it of course and Ricky Corey was chasing his 3rd ship in a row. Siggy was determined to stop that as nobody had ever done it before. Moose once again captured the drama on film and R7 was the deal. Lenny Hale, Siggy and more share the day.. awesome!. Siggy had 5 points on Hale for the championship and you can see the season unfold in this vid. the last lap is INSANE!!! :thumbup

I was there and provided some pics to share with barf. AFM Round 7 pics..

2015

Barf has recognized members with barfies for over 10 years. The effort or value they bring is appreciated and a small token is received. Plus we list their accomplishment over there <-- in their avatar. If you see barfie winner then you know they ROCK!
In 2015 we did something different and recognized some sponsors for the first time our Community Allstars . I sure appreciate these people and their long time support of our community.

Mike took us on a vacation of a life time My Amazing Safari to Botswana. His photo's tells us a story. If you missed it.. don't this time! Take a look. Maybe you want to go check it out.

Tripleseven shared some original artwork Steve Jobs It is awesome... totally. I know it because I bought it. :teeth It hangs in my conference room. We also made a small run of T shirts. iRide.

Butch took us on a dirt bike Rally of sort Stoneybarf IV

Surj made his presence felt here and in the lane splitting scene. Even the Wall Street Journal noticed. He landed on TV locally as www.lanesplittingislegal.com was a resource for a lot of info on AB51. He an I worked on Assemblymen Quirk (one if the Bill's authors) along with Nick Haris from the AMA and gents from clubs and ABATE. It was an interesting and time consuming effort. Surj is one of the busiest dudes I know.. kind of like me. He loves his moto's and thanks to him now running City Bike he gets to ride them... a lot of them... and then write write write. He manages to help Mod barf too.

Hawthorne brought a wedding in tow! Hondagrl and Slowpoke went and got hitched One of a several barfer on barfer we have seen over the years.

I always like these kinds of threads What Makes BARFers Memorable to You?

The boys were at it again with Free track day with z2 for a n00b - 2015 edition!! - WINNERS CHOSEN!

I have been a bit of a weirdo on Holidays since my Mom passed and I crawl on my Moto and ride around my home town every year. Stirs my memories Home town turf Holiday roll

In 2015 we had some serious growing pains. Misogyny, bigotry, and a changing world left us with some upset members. We had some long time members step away and that broke my heart. It hurt because many are considered my friends. They felt that barf should be better. While I am sad that they left, I am happy that they are passionate about barf.

We added some new Mod’s in 2015 with the goal of expanding the voice of women in the Mod Core. Two Wheel Tramp and Cyclesuzy helped us better understand our shortcomings. They have also taken on a pretty big load of modding!

Racing
Oh yeah... there is still Go Go AFM round-5, THIS GOOD CANT BE BAD

Deion Campbell is rocking the AFM . He has been a racer for years...and this year it it showing. R4 report The kid is smoking.. in the '48s on a 600 at Thill.

He ended up with 5 AFM Championships and we are proud to be a small part of his program.

2016

Once again DataDan delivered a brain stimulating 1Rider classic to us. Mototude this one is worth everyone who rides reading. Dan has been so awesome for so long.

Kurosaki took us along on a Cross country train trip. The thread got photobucketed, but the images are still viewable.

2016 meant more barf work for me.:teeth Trying to capture the good times the barf rallies have given us. "The best of times" was worth the effort. Flying_hun has been the Rally Czar and missed his first rally this year when we added the MidSummer Magic rally. Why?? Because he was riding in Europe. Two Wheel Tramp took up the task of being the Rally Master and the new Mod has been fricking awesome!!!

I attended the West coast NHTSA Safety Summit and gave barf a glimpse of some of the stuff I do. When I stood and spoke up about Vision Zero not repping Motorcycles I got a big thumbup from Lee Parks who is now running the CMSP training effort. That felt good.

More newbs got to the track in 2016 in fact twice!!! :thumbup PICS

As part of our continuing moto safety effort working with the State I came to barf with a question:
250k to spend on moto safety

How about the AB 51 lanesplitting victory
A multi year journey end with Jerry Browns signature on a favorable bill. We had a good party to celebrate at the DNA lounge with our partner in crime City Bike.

Khan is a great dude. He loves his country, the kids there and barf.

Barf went to Baja again.. adventure that CJ is bringing to barfers.
HadesOmega is a must have on any adventure ride, because he is a video jewel!

In response to some of the issues I raised above in 2015, we opened a private forum for females to discuss their experiences and issues on barf that are affecting their participation. We hoped that we would learn something. We did. It is too quiet now. :nchantr

Everyone has a different threshold on this stuff. For some the banter is fun, for others it is a heinous atrocity and demeaning. Another group finds that stifling such playfulness is taking away from the barf culture. Others feel it is killing it. What the heck is the answer?? Is there even one?? A lot of huge social media sites are struggling with it and they make millions of dollars and can afford to make tech changes or assign paid employees to address it. What is barf to do to keep up??

We will keep trying and thanks to the participation there and a lot of discussions in the Mod Forum we have adjusted the TOS.

Quote:
4.1a = Bigotry makes for a divisive and unwelcoming environment for all riders. BARF views all people/ motorcyclists as equals in race, sex and more. Comments that encourage, include, or troll with divisive comments of such are subject to review and suspension. Tolerances on these specific issues are determined by the mod vote for suspension at the time.
It is a new tool for barf to use to make some adjustments that one-day may see some of those valued friends return. I honestly hope so. We will see.

We saw a couple of younger members seriously hurt too. The realization of riding sometimes gets lost, but humanity brings it right back I really hope both guys cope well and can find real smiles in their futures. ZCOFWM and Linty Praying for ya guys.

We saw people looking for more moto knowledge. Barf has pretty much always pointed people in a positive direction.
Just finished CMSP, need advice is a good example.

In closing out my walk through barf history....
My head and heart are still reeling from the loss of Glenn Patterson / GOPatterson. Just meeting the young man before heading to Hawthorne and never having the chance to share a beer and a smile after a good day really dug into me. His family invited us to his funeral/ memorial and a solid group of barfers opened the hearts and in some cases wounds to go and meet his parents (Brad and Katrina) and other friends and family. Glenn had some solid friends. They lined up and thanked each one of us for attending before we left the burial site. Solid young men like I am sure Glenn was. Hearing the stories of his life at the memorial just added more to the void I was feeling for someone I really did not know. In the end he was a barfer/ rider and that is really all it took to touch me. Then the family made the request that funds come to barf in his memory. I was so amazed, humbled and honored. We put the $$ towards distributing lanesplitting tips across California in Glenn’s memory.

Holeshot continues to be the AFM President.
I honestly was so damn busy trying to run a business I was a fail at making it to the AFM.
I did go to COTA again for the MotoGP big show. We had a barf gathering there too.

2017

We added a new sponsor to start the year. Ken Hill has been sharing his PodCasts with us since then.

I got some nice props here: AMA Road Rider of the Year

We honored racing legends in the The classic bad ass motorcycle racer thread

We had some rallies!!! :banana
Pitho goes to Quincy!! Nick Haris from the AMA showed up to pass along my AMA Road Rider of the Year award personally.
His comment "You suckers like to party!" :laughing

Midsummer Magic rally was a hoot!!
Rydther goes to Carson City. Yup the traditional Hawthorne ride moved because the Motel drained the pool in '16 and we were all pissed :rant
Baja called!! and CJ and friends answered!
BARF got Stoney (9)

Seeing all the suspensions and infighting cause by the political climate we took politics out of the kitchen sink and put it in the closet. The polsink kept those that don't want to engage in that away from the noise. Honestly I think it was a great decision. I kind of had to just say we are doing it as moderators were not all onboard with my idea of doing so. The first year of moderating it myself was a PITA, but worth it.

We lost a couple of members :rose
AnglerDon was a kind and thoughtful man. I was honored to hang with him one night before the Hoho Rally and we walked to downtown Marin to watch Mort Saul together. He came down to meet twowheeltramp the next morning and sent us off with a smile and well wishes.
ECN was a familiar face at the Junction and Jane Sissons the wife of Rob and owners of Evolution Motorcycles. She was alway a vibrant sweetheart of a woman.
Finally Cal24 Rally lost their guiding light when Tom Melchild went to ride the Forever Rally.

Moto Safety:
We continued to work with the CHP and CA motorcycle Safety Committee. I was involved with the CHP developing their Lanesplitting tips. (I still hate that the Government changed it to Splitting vs Sharing). Knowing that the tips were being a bit watered down I enlisted DataDan, Enchanter and Kazman to generate a more thorough set of Guidelines vs. Tips. We issued ours in November of this year.
Kazman also put this video together. The AMA loves!

Slow your roll = know the delta.

As part of our reach out and as a result of my objecting to Vision Zero's lack of motorcycles in their content at the Safety Summit in February we were engaged by the SFMTA to help with their motorcycle safety efforts. We grabbed some volunteers and engaged our brothers and sisters at the SFMC to help guide the effort. Heck we even got a thanks at the end of the video.

To end the year BARF did Xmas... East Bay Style!! It's That Time of Year Again, Kids! SKIPSMAS MEET 12/20/17!!
Always a good way to close out a year. :thumbup

On a personal note of thanks to the CHP for watching over all of us. Yes we hate tickets, but when we need help (as they were for Glenn), when we need things to improve in Moto Training when it comes to all the roads in CA there is only one group that really has our backs.

2018

We
....Ride
....get dirty!!
....share our lives
....support our sport
....fight for our rights
....influence the decision makers
.... inform, share, and are better because of the collective
....Love our heroes
....teach each other
....try to represent
....help each other
....celebrate our valued members

And so much more I should just say weeeeeeeee :ride :party

BARFbaja always kicks the year off and they do it right!

I wrote this a while ago. Nothing of real substance has changed over those seven years or has it?. I believe All those ideals and goals have been met, yet I am sure we left some things behind because that is the nature of life.

Barfers are living and loving and crying through the year. We have a few brothers and sisters out there challenged every day. My heart goes out to our family that has been hurt and are dealing with things that I take for granted whatever the reason. Our humanity is represented in the E autobiography we are writing. We are writing it together because we ride.

I am so very grateful to be sharing that with you. Sappy huh? :p

BARF actually continues to morph.
• We privatized the political banter.
• We opened a Women only Forum.
BARF yellow pages

We saw a little love for our mission here when the AMA’s Michael Sayre pointed to BARF as a unifying body in the Bay Area as a positive example.
About 2/3 down in the article in the section called “MAC's mission: Focus on infrastructure” under his picture.

We just became a member of the National Association of State Motorcycle Safety Administrators

Lane Splitting:
We celebrated our influence and success with a party when AB51 fully codified Lane Splitting. That was a seven year journey from the Dub Dub Dub post, but it is done except for the official State Guidelines, which were turned into Tips. Working with the CMSP Advisory Committee on this was a battle in ways. AMA / ABATE and BARF wanted more info, but the State wanted them to be simple. We got just a bit of our way and the Lanesplitting Tips were issued in September. As noted above
I got impatient and some barf veterans helped create our own.

I also got to attend the SMSA Motorcycle Safety Summit in Sac. As an invited presenter we shared our story with the SFMTA and Vision Zero motorcycle safety effort. The first of its kind in the USA. Presentation below. We still are a small business partner with them.

OHV Access:
CORVA recognized BARF has a player in the State on Off Road issues. CORVA Norcal Club of the Year.

We felt for our lost warrior Nicky Hayden and created Nicky memorial shirts to donate to his Foundation.
That is almost done... can't wait to do the books and send a check on. BARF already donated $1,000 and thanks to Diego presented Roger Lee a full size copy of the painting. He also helped save the day on the shirts. Thanks man.

Personal:
I started doing Moto Pod Casts with Zak from the BONE 107.7

Riders Training:
We sent in 10 proposals to the CHP on how to make the CMSP Training more successful and make use of “our” money to do it. It was great to have City Bike organize a ride to the last CMSP meeting. The CHP noticed the uptick in people paying attention. :cool

We saw a Dad reach out for a female rider to help his daughter learn to ride. The barf reach out was awesome. :thumbup

Barf is recognized by the State, the AMA, other Motorcycle entities and most importantly by me, as holding value and worth working it, to move things forward. When I attend State meetings I have become proud of hearing “You’re from BARF?”

That took a while :laughing

The Kitchen Sink is our playground for non-moto stuff.
Since I look at BARF :bday every day I decided to pick the most fun/cool/whimiscal or whatever Birthday User name of the day. That was fun :party

Also we find issues... we face Fires!! Butte County Barfers check in!! is an example of the community sharing those stories and trying to help each other out.
3CwV90i.gif

We lost a friend of barf CulverDan :rose and also a friendly poster and friend Serazin. :rose

Life continued to happen here like every other year and it was a pretty good year.

2019

2019

Like all years we had some good and some bad. I would not do this if I did not think the good outweighed the bad.

So let’s start with the good.
Rallies are always good
… even when you get wet and your bike has issues. That would be Kernville Pit Ho Rally. Riders face weather on the way home... :wow

… even when we lose a good friend we can celebrate and the Hoho Magic Rally delivered with a gathering of more than just the regular rally riders. A lot of barfers came out to celebrate Hoho’s life.

… even when they close your favorite bar and food is a challenge the Rydther Hawthorne Rally delivers a bunch of fun and creates great memories.

We got Social with the Lightning Open House Barf Style - July 27th 12 to 4PM

Later in the year our Community Allstar Sponsor celebrated with 20-Year Anniversary Party at Santa Clara Cycle!! Sat, Nov 30, 12 - 4PM. That was fun! :banana

The MotoGP season makes for a bunch of fun in the Couch Racers Corner. kelsodeez once again delivered threads that many of us look to for fun. Map8 kept the MotoAmerica and WSBK races active and we also saw the continued rise of American Flat Track.

BARF Baja saw another run south of the borders to ride and enjoy the glory of friendship, the ride, the food and a few adult beverages. :ride

Ride Reports: :ride

Other Forums had cool stuff too.
The Vintage Forum inspired folks to wake up early to go to Mt. Tam on Easter.

MotoPhotos continues to be a great place to share photo’s of bikes and adventures. The Your bike on location is a fun historical thread started way back in 2010. Some great photography that include motorcycles and cool spots. Stuff like going to the 2019 The Quail MC Gathering are a way to share some of the fun without being there. :cool
And what would it be without a little love from Woodschick :love

DataDan shared Lane-splitting crashes and close calls. Dan always had our backs and wanted us to be better 2 wheel aviators. :thumbup

I often share stuff that I get from being on the CA Moto Safety Committee. In this case info Berkeley via SafeTrec

Trackdays is always popular… 2022 schedules are going up. Check ‘em out and go drag some knee!
Also a continued blessed event put on by barfers who love Z2. N00b track day prep thread 2019.
Sharing the love of the track! :Port

Other barfers stepped up to make a difference too. Folks doing good things because they have a good heart. Example The wall is a mess. Another below in Dirty Barf.

Riders Rights had some action in 2019 as we battled to keep the wolves away from Carnegie OHV Park and keep Pismo Beach open. Engaging with the AMA and CORVA on issues to support their lead is the goal and 2019 was pretty successful in the end thanks to many of you. Butch was CORVA Political Activism Award. Keep rocking it Butch. :thumbup

The Shooting Gallery forum was put up via a suggestion by mototireguy and Hoho became the moderator. More on those guys below.

A lot of barfers sold shit and bought shit in the classifieds as always.. and slung shit in the Sink and Pol Sink. :laughing

The AFM remained close to barfs heart for sure.
2019 brought our longest running BARF Racer to #6 (highest points scorer not in Formula Pacific), which provides the #1 - 5 plates.
That would be holeshot!! Way to go Berto :banana

frozennuts made a sweet vid for the Banquet!

We also had a little race report payback and sent some racers some cash and got to share their story.
Check out the AFM Forum and get your race face on. Some of the best times in my life are centered around the AFM.

Newbies... go say :newbie

We also shuffled the main page Forum layout in 2019. The goal was to feature the most popular forums and also capture some into a new area. BARF Love of Community in particular.
I do love this community. :teeth

Well that love of community sometimes means being sad. :(
Some friends got hurt… others passed and left a hole in many hearts.
So.. in 2020 we said Godspeed to mototireguy, injun and my dear friend Hoho. I miss seeing them all post. :rose

Hoho's service was an amazing show of the community created here. So many loved the guy so much. At the service I announced that we renamed the Mid Summber Magic Rally to the Hoho Mid Summer Magic Rally. His spirit lives on there every year now. :love

We saw another round of real life crap for many barfers in the Kincade fire and that is chilling for many. After the Camp Fire and Woolsey Fire among others some real life drama was shared here. So many here stepped up to help their real community and fellow humans. Some folks here are amazingly compassionate and kind.

We also saw the end of City Bike. Surj had done a great job with it and his casual style of writing and his staff made every month fun for years. A huge ally in the Lanesplitting effort and a friend, but frozenuts.. I mean his M.O.M. started a new gig!

Kitchen Sink still shares life.
People that touched us remembered, goofy shit and stuff that impact us.

Several threads that are sort of political end up getting moved when folks can't restrain their fingers on the keyboard. I get it so no worries, but it could be a good discusssion if there was more self restraint.
We instituted the PTrap to deal with the continuing break out political commentary that was still invading the forum. It is still in use now.. way to often, but at times it is a fine line. The PTRAP had us suspending good folks for that, but I feel politics hurts the forum so shall it be.

The Sink said good bye to Stan Lee :hail , Roy Clark, and KFOG Radio too. We discussed The worst movie you have ever seen, the Epsten Suicide and a lot more. Part of being a community is discussing all kinds of shit!

And to wrap it… there is the share your face thread… over ten years old, but still fun to share your mug.

Turns out 2019 could be considered our last normal. :nchantr

2020

2020

The year of change. A pandemic swept the world and swept us up with it. How we lived, worked and rode changed. A simple thread by bikeama Corona Virus are you ready? in February led to us finding ourselves locked down with a Shelter in Place in March. All my employees went home.. work pretty much stopped and we all wondered what would come. I thought a 3 month SIP would fix this somehow, stupidly so as I look back now. BARF soon collected the various threads and created a new sub forum specific to the virus info. We enlisted DR SLO and Snaggy as mods for the forum (thanks guys) and others like Yakoo provided insight into what we were facing. Those 3 guys were recognize in '21 for their effort. With so much misinformation out there it was like wading in the mud trying to figure where we were headed.

It turned out we were facing a lot more than expected and the country and the world changed status. I soon started listening to TWIV everyday to catch updates besides following the info here. The Media info had a lot of drama to be filtered and the real truth was somewhere, but probably just as much here as anywhere from my perspective.

The healthcare workers and first responders became real heros and even food workers at restaurants become essential workers to keep us moving forward. Life was changed... big time.

Normally I start out with the good, but since 2020 sucked lets start by remembering some friends.

We lost friend of the forum Paul Weiss and we lost EastBayDave to the virus. Some of us lost others that were close to them. Some got sick and did fine, others got sick and struggled. For me the whole 2020 vibe was captured in the 2020 graphic below.

We lost DanZX9R and Idontdotrix too. Friends for many OG barfers and Danni being the wife of RacerCosmo.

A :kicknuts was the Fire storms that hit many of us again closely, but affected all of us in terms of air quality. Sad to see so many barfers affected.

I had high hopes for doing a lot of riding in 2020. We had 5 rallies scheduled for the first time... I was stoked. The FAB 5! All cancelled. :( Kazman design Fab 5 Rally shirt will wait for another shot!)

OK... as Monty Python said "Lets look at the bright side of life" huh?

ThumperX made us Covid Stickers!

People rode some. In the beginning of the pandemic with everything shut down including restrooms at gas stations it was a bit of a challenge. We were worried about the capacity of the ER rooms too, so BARF recommended to not ride for a while. I issued a riding during Rona guideline (since taken down) and a lot of people cooled their jets even with the empty roads. Driving anywhere was a trip. Open roads, people hauling ass a totally unique experience we will likely never see again.

As always the Kitchen Sink memorialize people who lost their lives. From Alex Trebek, Chuck Yeager, Kobe Bryant, Eddie Van Halen, Ruth Vader Ginsburg.. and some that might not have been so loved. It is interest scrolling back through the pages of the sink and seeing what is on tap for life in the sink. Want to find out what up with Tom Cruise's teeth?? Check the sink. :laughing

I threw a shout out to Old School Barfers and we had some post and found that some still lurk often.

The Baja crew escaped before the madness started to have an epic time! If anyone wants high res versions of my collages PM your email! Simple awesome thread. :applause

HadesOmega's Stonyford Memorial Day Ride You can find more here Threads by GB500 guy dominated, but some others posted a few as well.

The AFM overcame to have a few races and BARFracing supported former AMA 250gp legend Chuck Sorension and Chucki made us look good.

Supercross struggled through and then lit up the entertainment for some of us with a compressed schedule and some great racing.

Bay Area Group Ride Video- by Maxwrist video's caught our attention and the wild one from SoCal remains an egnima of sport riding to this day. I am torn between how stupid and how cool. Given some hooligan years myself I see both sides of his antics.

I took advantage of the world shutdown find and document Destination Ride Restaurants and to write up Budman Racing and Early Years HooliganTales. Things to keep my moto brain occupied I guess!

Also some time to organize BARF JEEEEEEEEEOPARRRRRRRDY!. That was a hoot... look foward to doing it again one day.

StonyBARF12 carried on.. the moto provided a great way to social distance.

We added a new subforum for bike builds Who Let the Smoke out! and the idea for it and his work in it led to a barfie for FrameMaker (see 2021)
