2026/2027 NFL Thread

When healthy* , that was 2 of the best 3 teams in the league.
Also I hate to admit that Brady is a phenomenal color commentator.

I didn't hate him.

He was very milk toast but, he also was very polished in the booth.

Well, look, I always say you dont' even know who a team is until after week 4, so let's not start writing Conf Championships yet. Nevertheless, Niners look good, but the Vikings are unbeaten too.

SF has for a number of years in a row now seemed to be a legitimate contender for another ring, if only they could keep their players on the field. Deebo is now a hammy, which means they have to lean more into C-Mac, Kittle (who are both very injury prone), and the Ghost of Mike Evans.

They look great, but they usually feel like a countdown to the ER for me. If they can manage a killer trade (the Marvin Harrison deal would have been perfect for them) for some more YOUNG offensive talent, I would believe more.

yes, but a weird nerve wracking game. Lots of turnovers, dumb mistakes then mixed with bouts of solid play by both teams. Darnold is suspect despite the SB win last year. Niners win by a nose but 61 total points was a shocker to me. Mike Evans is not a ghost just yet.

That 'ghost' had seven catches for 113 yards, one touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Yeah, he is certainly playing well, but how well will he do if Deebo is no longer pulling coverage?

The 49er problem is old age. Hopefully, coaching can drag them to the finish line. In the salary cap era, no team is flawless. Does anyone truly believe the 5-0 Vikings can go the distance with Kyler Murray?
And some coaches should have been fired on the spot yesterday. I’m looking at you Philly and Washington.

Deebo does not "pull coverage" whatever that is supposed to mean. He's lined up in the backfield half the time.

Not like Evans was getting double teamed. Seattle's defense is legit. It's not quite Sherman/Thomas/Chancellor legion of boom level, but they're one of the best defenses in the league.

The big missing piece is a deep threat, which is where the rookie Stribling and Demarcus Robinson being hurt cause huge issues. Hell, Brandin Cooks made a catch for us in 2026.

Agree that was in ignorant statment. Deebo isn't really a wide receiver, he's gadget player. Remember his "wideback" years?

Evans "pulling coverage" doesn't even mean that he has to be double teamed. Just drawing attention and forcing the D to focus on what he is doing can create opportunity for WR2 & WR3 or TE. The best at that role was Jauan Jennings who unfortunately wanted too much money and now wallowing in MN.

Yep. Note this high scoring game, 61 total points, wasn't a shootout, it was a turnover fest. Thanks Darnold!

Yes, Niners still need a speedster.

Win would not have been as impressive if at home but damn if it wasn't loud in Seattle; louder than I can ever recall.

Evans, should he stay healthy, is the key.

Some of that cheering sounded piped in.

GAJ, would you accept engineered? `Cause it is.

Lumen Field is purposefully noisy

From your link.

One architect later described part of the canopy effect as a happy accident. But the outcome is clear. The building gives the crowd a place where its noise can stay close.

Yeah, that link had someone that said that...most of what I've read is purposefully with Paul Allen's money.

Another linky!

The 68,740-seat venue, designed by Ellerbe Becket, was purpose-built to be loud. The partially covered roof over the seating bowl, combined with overhanging upper decks on both sidelines, traps and reflects crowd noise back toward the field. The design was not accidental — Paul Allen, the Seahawks' late owner and Microsoft co-founder, specifically requested an acoustically hostile environment, and the architects delivered. The result is a stadium where the decibel levels during critical plays can exceed 130 — louder than a jet engine at 100 feet, and enough to cause genuine physical discomfort for opposing players trying to communicate.

Yeah, would not go to a game there without earplugs for sure.
