Glad y'all made the pilgrimage up here ta God's country.
I just wish I got 'em all coming around the corner. I thought it would be good get'in 'em go'in through the ruts, but the corner wuz a better phot op. Next time.

269 miles, I wish I could do half of that. KLR's must have a seat like a throne.

I rode 65 miles today and though I would have to stand all the way home.
KTM has taught me a new word: Coccydynia

The stock KLR seat is like riding on a 2x4 - I have a sweet Corbin that I had made at the Corbin factory while I waited. I can pull a ten hour day and the only thing that hurts is my Knees and my upper back.

The stock KLR seat is like riding on a 2x4 - I have a sweet Corbin that I had made at the Corbin factory while I waited. I can pull a ten hour day and the only thing that hurts is my Knees and my upper back.

I bought the KTM powerparts gel seat to replace the stock. It sucked just as much as the stock.
There was another aftermarket choice but it raised the seat height almost an inch on an already tall bike.
I might attempt a backyard modification to the stock seat. Got nothing to loose but a PITA.

Awesome vid of Kyle and Leo tearing it up! There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that KTM does not hype up the 950/990 off-road capability... not saying Kyle and Leo couldn't impress me on an Enfield Bullet.

Thanks again for organizing the trip - it was a great day! Terrific people, fun route, awesome weather. Several of us took Rayhouse Road in both directions, and when Kyle (Orange KTM, also from SF) and I got to the top of the hill on the return trip we took a detour down to Buck Island (about 10 miles round trip). It's not really an island, but Cache creek sort of wraps around the site. Really pretty spot and you can play in the creek there, with or without your motorcycle. I think Kyle took some video and maybe he'll post it. I've attached a couple of photos, but they're pretty crappy because I didn't have the correct camera settings. Hope to meet up again soon!

That was a rather respectable pace you kept up. You probably would have left me behind in your dusty wake.

What kind of tires were you two running on those KTMs? I only noticed one traction issue on a grassy turn.

Thanx alot ya bastid, after 29 long hard years of sobriety, you dun knocked me off the wagon! After a sip of that tasty beer, I dun had tuh pull a cork when I got home; have bean sloppy drunk ever since! How do you live with yerself?

Nice! Man...those 990s sounded like they were just taking a walk. They seem like great off-road/DS bikes and tank-like in their progression over the terrain...like, they will just keep going and going. You picked pretty good lines over the washouts/water ruts.

Wait, you didnt air down??! Make that priority #1 next time. Even if you just take the front down to like 20 F/R it'll be a huge improvement over street pressures.

Also, in the dirt (much like the road) you want to be slowed down for the turn well before the turn and be on the gas to help the back end steer around.

Get y'er ass cheek hanging off the outside... dab that rear brake...get on the gas before the turn, back her in.. and square it off! Energizer26 is quite proficient in the dirt... probably just forgot he was off pavement while manhandling his VStrom... so just for the camera, it looked like he decided to spend all $10 by 'hanging off'/dragging elbow for a change, and going wide for a 'decreasing radius, off camber turn'. Besides it was Passover, and he wanted to check out Heaven in case the Rapture happened before Easter.

My Jewish friends now think I'm an ignorant Gentile for scheduling the ride on Passover... and the Sabbath!
