ADV/DS ride Lake Berryessa/Knoxville OHV/Rayhouse Rd.

I rode Knoxville and Reiff Road today on the V-Strom. The gate was open and the flowers were in bloom. Yellow and purple hillsides. I lost the front tire on a diagonal rut that I thought was more solid than it was. Other than that, it was great, not much traffic anywhere including on the twisties around Berryessa.

Were you able to ride Reiff/Rayhouse all the way to 16? An ealier report said there was an impassable slide near the CA16 end.

No, I didn't make it all the way to Cache Creek but I was pretty close, I turned around when I dropped it. It was ten minutes after the 4-way at the top, once you get into the forest again. There were a few slides along the way that had been dug out. One big one where the orange subsoil was stacked 6-feet high on both sides of the road. That might have been it.
 
Anyone heading out tomorrow? I was planning on doing it today but woke up to a flat tire on my truck and decided to be an adult and make that a priority. Id like to run knoxville all the way to middle town... I'd LOVE to do Reiff but I'm on a new, un-caged Africa Twin on factory street tires and I don't want to risk a costly drop.

The first part of that road has been graded since the last time I went through before the fires, and all the roads I took were easily passible. Some ruts from the rain, but nothing major at all. My xr400 did great although I will plan to make some suspension changes before baja in January.

Is this ride still going down each month? I'm from Vallejo and just picked up a low mileage DRZ400s. The Knoxville area would be perfect for me to check out some trails so this is right up my alley.
 
It is usually small, but it usually happens. Keep an eye on this thread as the second Sunday approaches.
 
I'm thinking about it for the 11th.. Maybe on the XR or the KLR or....
 
I'll be on my way back from the Quincy rally on the 11th. Maybe next month. There's a good chance that I'll work Knoxville-Berryessa into my return route, so maybe I'll see you folks. :thumbup

I did Knoxville last Sunday and everything was peachy. The jeep trails seemed rougher than I remember. I didn't have enough time to hit up Reiff Rd.
 
Maybe if nobody's going this Sunday I'll go check out Metcalf on Saturday instead.
 
I'm on for this months ride. Finally got my drz good to go
 
I did it last Saturday... super hot. I went with a guy I've ridden with a handful of times who, I found out, Is totally new to dirt riding in every way. At the reservoir/lake/pond he was DONE. Had to turn around. I packed 7L of water and it was gone by sundown. Only saw two 4x4s while up there..
 
When I went from from Highway 16 to cross over the hill to go to knoxville, there were tons of obstacles and a landslide. A lot of the road was split in half and damn near difficult with a 500lb adv bike.

Has anyone been up there from Highway 16 way and noticed if the landslide if gone yet? I would presume no one is up there doing maintenance or clearing anything.

Do you mean the slide has been cleared? So it is now passable from 16 to Morgan Valley Rd? Thanks for any info,

Bill, mid June the slides were still in place. There is/was a step up from the uphill side and it looked like several attempts had been made from the downhill side. I don't believe I would have done this on my GS.
