ADV/DS ride Lake Berryessa/Knoxville OHV/Rayhouse Rd.

I rode Reiff Rd from Morgan Vly to Hwy 16 today, hoping to find it passable and it was, at least on my little NX250. Wouldn't want to try it on a big adventure bike though.

Lots of erosion from winter rains.

The slide has been cleared enough to get over, at least with a light bike.

After crossing the bridge I found Hwy 16 is closed for repairs from there north from 7 AM - 7 PM for the next 5-6 weeks.

I was hoping to do that ride later this month.
 
And I'd like to thank the random dude who said this road was no problem on a dual sport, for being a filthy liar, but in a good way.
 
It’s passable on a v-strom, which is pretty far from a dualsport. That said, it’s a lot more fun on a 690 enduro or something like that.

Yeah, probably is actually. Wasn't demanding much of the suspension, and wasn't much in need of ground clearance, but you really want the right tires for that loose junk on slopes. Took me practically an hour to go the 12 miles.
 
I think I am going to head up there from SF on Saturday 10/28. Either on the XT250 or GS depending.... Anyone riding?

I did a loop up to here from SF, through Napa to Knoxville Rd -> Devilhead Rd and through the OHV area, came out on Morgan Valley, then did Reiff over to 16, and back down 505/80 to SF. The OHV road was pretty loose in some of the steeper sections. Reiff was actually in pretty good shape, only a couple of pucker sections and totally manageable on my XT250.
 
Off topic, but there's something really screwed up about this thread. It always says there is a 187th page, but clicking on it just takes you to the top of page 186. So confusing.

It is a glitch in the software. Really long threads mess up the pagination.
 
Well the December ADV ride DID actually happen!

Phil (DR650), Bob (AfricaTwin) and Jim (WR250R) met at the Starbucks and decided to give it a go!

It was an epic day that involved both big bikes going down once. We ended up in Stonyford at about 330pm.

So if you are thinking of going.... POST!

What an awesome time!
