Dad was in the 101 in the 50s

Dad was a paratrooper during the Korean war. He broke his back on a hard landing and spent the rest of his enlistment in a body cast, then as a cook... he never set foot on an airplane again.

In high school I went to an air show, it was a smaller affair, not one with the Angels or TBs.

But of note was that I met not only Pappy Boyington, but across the aisle from him was the Japanese ace that shot him down.

I got both of their autographs.
