First race ever? No. Motorcycle race, yes.. but not the first race ever. Formula 1 was there last year and Lewis Hamilton won it. The track was built specifically to bring F1 back to the US. It now has MotoGP, American LeMans, and Australian V8 Supercars signed up as well. This is truly a world class track.

Any one have a link to the results for RBRC? Cant seem to find them, qualifying should be wrapped up by now and Roadracing World & Soup are not showing the results for these guys.

It seems times came down by almost 4-5 secs from free practice as the track rubbered in. Here are the practice times.

I've never followed the rookies cup before but it looks like that Hanika kid is the one to beat this year based on these times and the article budman posted...

Anthony did much better, but all the young men did.

Tough day qualifying… tougher race tomorrow

Anthony had a tough day in practice and qualifying today. The day started with a minor low-side at the top of T1. T1 is an uphill left-hander which at the peak, flattens out. Eager to make time, Anthony held onto the front brakes for too long and lost the front.

There was very little damage to the bike and he was able to pick up the bike and get it started. Before QP1 we went up to T1 and watched the Moto3 guys take the turn and Anthony made a few notes.

For QP1 Anthony improved a bunch, about 4 seconds and though he qualified 19th, he was close to the pack (minus Hannika who is on fire).

For QP2 we had a choice of tires, basically re-use the tires from FP1, or the tires from QP1. The rear tire from QP1 was pretty beat up, so we chose the FP1 tires which had a little more meat on them.

Unfortunately Anthony was not able to improve on his laptime from QP1, while others were, and he was pushed back farther to 21st position.

Tomorrow’s race will be VERY tough.

This is a difficult track.. The lines are not intuitive like many tracks. I saw progress on his line in T14. I am sure that is all over. Could see some in the esses too

First thing is fun. It is fun to go fast.
It is fun to pass guys.

Tomorrow will be fun for A.

Anthony was just interviewed on the track TV feed. He was calm and cool.

I told Ivan his videos he does for us and being used to being on camera just paid off
