Congratulations Brother!!!! That house has GREAT Curb Appeal. It looks beautiful.
Curious whether the reduction in CO2 from eliminating gas water heaters is greater or less than the CO2 generated from the increased energy consumption of heat pump units.Yes for sure get that gas water heater replaced before you become an involuntary eco-terrorist.
No joke, they are way better
nobody ever want to account for electricity generation emissions as they all want to assume it comes from non-hydrocarbon burning sources to make their arguments look better.Curious whether the reduction in CO2 from eliminating gas water heaters is greater or less than the CO2 generated from the increased energy consumption of heat pump units.
It's crap. It was MANDATORY I get flood insurance and maintain as long as I have the long. Flood insurance for concord? That's $700 a year gone. Thanks FEMA.Curious whether the reduction in CO2 from eliminating gas water heaters is greater or less than the CO2 generated from the increased energy consumption of heat pump units.

Dubbs, make sure to put up a "Need a friend with a truck?" thread as a sticky in the KS.
Dubbs will get it doneMaybe don't tackle everything in short order.
Attic, family room, bathrooms, bedroom? Slow down and do a little at a time. It's never going to end so pick a pace you can live with for the long game.

Looks like the house I grew up in.

I'll do it for 3K...One day...Spotless$4k just to remove insulation from the attic??

About a third of our energy is produced by natural gas, and a small portion of our imported energy is produced by coal and natural gas plants. Interestingly, the single remaining nuclear plant in CA produces almost 10% of our electricity, and the state is trying to close it by 2030Technically it depends on the source of electricity for full count, but in CA, the energy is almost exclusively clean (renewable or Nuclear) so the answer is an overwhelming yes.
That is weird did you check and even see if you are in a flood zone? I would try and dispute it. I am waiting for my neighbors appeal to FEMA to play out due to him building up his house pad he is techinically no longer in a flood zone for his house. If he can get it approved I am going to make the move also and that will be lilke 1K+ a year I save. It's crap. It was MANDATORY I get flood insurance and maintain as long as I have the long. Can't do the electrical - new panel, sub panel in garage, future stuff for possible pool and solar.
Too bad it's in Concord...right?
It is more like a quarter is from Natural Gas, with absurdly militant scrubbing standards. Agreed, this Country needs to go hard into nuclear energy, especially in the AI Mega Data Center era, but the net of the question being the carbon count of Heat Power Electric conversations vs Natural Gas, the data shows an overwhelming Yes.About a third of our energy is produced by natural gas, and a small portion of our imported energy is produced by coal and natural gas plants. We need new reactors.
