Gas Prices

Costco premium up 15c since yesterday, N.E. SJ. 16c lower at Coleman; $5.89 vs $6.05. 5% discount is looking bettter all the time.

Speedway isn't even top tier fuel.
The gas is regular and I am not sure top tier matters at this point.
Where is reliable top tier gas available?
This is a simple pick up truck with a stock LS small block.
I will run top tier gas in my motorcycles and performance cars.
Is this Shell, Chevron, Exon or others….
It must matter if you brought this up.
I am considering what App to install to find “Top Tier” gas.
As far as keeping engines cleaner and removing deposits, I probably just redline the non top tier gas out of this truck to be safe.
Thank you for providing this for consideration.

I think what he was exclaiming about was that he was paying $5.75/gallon for top tier fuel at Costco vs your $6.25/gallon “non top tier fuel” ( my math could be wrong and I’m assuming you used regular vs premium due to your comments about fuel and your GM motor).

To ensure it has enough fuel, the state is importing refined products from abroad just as the Iran war tightens global crude oil supplies. But California has been able to get a lifeline from a surprising source: Fuel made from Russian oil is surging into the state, even though such sales are used to finance that nation’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

OK
Yes it was regular gas.
I just got a Costco card the other day.
I will now focus on planning required to go to Costco gas when possible.
I probably going to fill a few 5 gallon jugs to fuel my street motorcycles at home rather then deal with the line circus 🤡 at Costco.
Regarding the additive “Techron” at Chevron I am not sure this is actually a good thing?
My understanding for my 464 in my 73 C 10 and 68 GTO 400 CID the more octane the better.
So perhaps octane boost and a blend of aviation fuel with the highest octane available. Just wondering if show up at a local small airport ( Petaluma or Novato ) can I just fill up a few 5 gallon jugs.
Next time I am at Sears Point Racetrack I will fill up a jug with the high octane racing fuel that’s available from the Sunoco pumps and take picture of the octane available and price. My GTO definitely runs better on Sunoco racing gas from there. ( it gets third gear tire with 4 people and a dog leaving the track )
The Trans AM photo is on Simpson Drive in Fort Bragg it’s powered by a big block Chevy ZZ 502.
If you ever followed a Fort Bragg local over Highway 20 you know local road knowledge matters….
Life is gas oil and tires….

The ethanol free 92 gas is $7.00 a gallon in Oregon. Or, it was when I left. I’ll report back in a few days.

Top tier fuel matters more with fuel injection for sure.

Though decades ago my carbureted DRZSM refused to idle on Citgo gas.

Throwing some Seafoam in the tank took care of that.

Direct Injection engines will carbonize no matter what from what I've read but using top tier fuel delays the symptoms I'm told.

When it happens to my wife's CX5 Turbo I'll seek out a Hydrogen cleaning shop vs the far more expensive walnut blasting procedure.

What is hydrogen cleaning?
Hydrogen cleaning, or HHO carbon cleaning, uses a generator to create hydrogen and oxygen gas, which is fed into an engine's air intake to remove carbon deposits. This non-abrasive, eco-friendly method breaks down buildup in the combustion chamber, valves, and exhaust, enhancing engine efficiency, restoring power, reducing emissions, and improving fuel economy

It's going up at the top tier Marathon by me, now 5.69 for premium, but still less than my local Costco at 5.74.
