Starting the squeeze before summer.. What are you guys paying and how much have you noticed it going up over what period?

$5.05 for regular at local Costco according to Gas Buddy which is usually 100 percent accurate.

So not up dramatically from when I filled up a few weeks back there.

Oil prices spiked for 3 days. They are now only ~10% up from pre-war levels. This change in gas prices is just greed.

Flight costs have increased by exorbitantly as well.
Yup.

Sure is funny how gas prices can skyrocket in HOURS but it takes weeks upon weeks for them to drop.

I'm SO confused,
February, something about Venezuela ?
March, something about Iran ?
Fuel is going up because we have too much ?
Summer Blend, the "normal" gouge, what happened to all the fuel in transit ?
Nothing, just the gouge.

Much of the ‘fuel in transit’ was diverted to the closest places, mostly India, which has a dire need and money. Alot was heretofore sanctioned Russian Ural oil now permitted. Not sure when the empty tankers will get back upstream tho. Saudi and the UAE have pipelines to shift oil to other ports. China is the largest buyer of Iranian oil and there are pipelines as well as new agreements for Iran’s oil to get thru to China.

I’m thankful that my driving is minimal so gas prices don’t really matter.
A tank of gas lasts 10+ days for me.

Diesel is $4.99 a gallon cash price here. I drive maybe 80 miles a week. I will be pedaling to the local store if I need anything.

Weather is getting better and the days are getting longer. Im fortunate to be able to pedal to most of the places I want to be. I drove one day last week. I hope thats my summertime average.

Boating season will be expensive.....:oops::LOL:

Where does CA get its oil? We still refine all the gas here, right?
CA environmental laws are so bad they actually closed a few refineries in the Bay Area because retrofitting them to meet CA standard was not worth it in the long term for those companies. Now we are stuck shipping in fuel which is kinda crazy.... Because I guess polluting other places in the world is 'OK' as long as we get to breathe clean air.

Plus it will be easy to ban ICE vehicles later (past 2030/35) when all you need to do is cut of shipment of fuel.....

Phillips 66 shut its Los Angeles refinery in late 2025, eliminating about 139,000 barrels per day of processing capacity. Valero's Benicia facility closes April 2026, following a combined $1.1 billion impairment charge recorded across Valero's California operations.

$4.77 for 87 on 3/6 Paso Robles Arco
$4.45 for 87 on 3/08 Coalinga Fastrip - All the big name stations were over $5 and there was lines at the Fastrip

$5.19 for 91 at Costco this morning, up ~50 cents since I filled up better half's car late last week, and almost a dollar more than the last time I filled the truck 🫤

This pale face still buys gas from the rancheria. Cheaper by the gallon at $4.32.
