Gas Prices

$5.59 shell Honolulu
Yup in Kauai just a tad more but still cheaper than what most of Ca is paying. Crazy to think about Big Sur price bullshit when they want to say they are so remote and the land is expensive.

FWIW, I was sticking those on a couple of pumps. As of yesterday the sticker is still there on my regular place. I asked the station owner if he wanted me to peel it off he asked me if I had more.
I bet the gas stations are loosing $ from concession sales since the pumps price keeps going up

San Jose / Santa Clara Costco $5.29 / $5.69.

If so, that's a big hit.
The franchises don't make any money on the gas....it's all from the mini-mart and car wash. They keep the lights on by selling beer, soda and Doritos.
I'm always bummed to see people take their fuel cost frustrations out on the dealer. They're feeling it just like we are.

So if we have so much oil that we are "oil independent"- why haven't fuel prices come down (or better said- why did they go up)? I recall reading our massive reserve supply is low, but that was the case before we danced with Iran.

It's almost like we're being lied to at the gradeschool level and it's almost like it works on certain demographics...

Global commodity prices affect everyone.

Often, but in this case- how? We are independent of global oil, so much we have an excess of crude that we export.
Oil companies in the US price according to the global market.

Not what results in the lowest price to the consumer.

That would be unAmerican.

Calif is sticking it's collective neck on the line here, backing up with aging infrastructure,
Pumping from Santa Barbara, repaired oil piping, drilling to the last drop.

and, another 20 years of whistling in the dark, from the Quaky Coast,

If you could sell your product globally for $200 would you sell it locally for $100.

Oils companies are not known for their generosity.

Also US refineries are mostly specific for heavy crude (imported). We mostly export our own sweet light crude for refining. So they can drill baby drill all they want but building refineries is another story. A Valero refinery in Port Arthur, TX had a fire last week. Also they can only extract a fraction of our needs from the Reserve per day avg 1.1 M barrels and will be down 41% in the allotted 120 days. Would be the lowest level since 1982.

It's almost like when the public was told that we were going to drill baby drill, the message was really only for a half dozen people. Probably could have handled it in a group chat.
