Sooo I got another electric bike. It's become clear to me that we're not going to be winning hare scrambles with the Light Bee's travel challenged suspension. It's just too punishing riding that bike on rough trails. I wanted a Ultra Bee or Arctic Leopard EXE880 but don't have the monies. So I thought about doing an electric conversion would be more cost efficient. I was going to find a roller and convert it to electric but I found this bike! A 2008 Yamaha WR250R conversion bike! I'm going to turn this bike into my trail weapon. It's going to be an electric bike to gobble up the trails and put up a fight with the next generation of electric bikes in the Virginia City Grand Prix!

First ride at Honolulu Hills. It made a great pit bike and it survives a easy ride around the MX track. It definitely needs work though.

How much does WR250E weight? First weigh in after I took it home.

Way lighter than I thought it'd be! At first I was thinking that this was a terrible decision, but maybe not so bad at <240lbs.

It needed A LOT of tidying up of fasteners and other bits...

In this video we take the WR250E for a neighbor hood test ride after tiding up the bike to see if all the rattles and loose stuff are gone. This is also my first time riding it on the street. We gotta be real quiet so we don't wake up those homeless folks.

Took the bike to Fabrications Unlimited in Alviso, California and had Rob reinforce the motormount and battery tray

Dunlop Geomax Tire Install time!

Front

Rear - the is a pain to install. Must be the way they made this rim.

It's actually the tires that are the pain in the ass, not so much the rim. They make dirt tires as if they're also the ones selling easily pinched tubes, which they are. 😂

Also, it seems that in that picture the tire is dry...as in - no lube! Come on man, haven't you learned about lube yet?!?! Get a spray bottle and put some (more) soapy water in there. Soak it down really well after the bead is broken. Both sides. It's more messy, so get messy or struggle more. Your call... We used to use WD40 and never had a problem with it that way.

Also, make sure that the tire (bead) is well down into the center of the rim opposite the area you are prying on... Did I ever tell you that I used to do it for a living?

I like to challenge myself I don't lube it until I have to =P I didn't get it on video but recently I spooned the Shinko tires back on so I can race in a sportman class supermoto race and I pinched the 2 rear tubes and 1 tube I pinched it twice. I haven't pinched a tube in a LONG time it's gotta be this rim and tires combo.
