John Dice New bikes for '26 memorial thread.

Well... leaning on selling it. I need garage space to work on a long overdue project that needs to get back on track.
Currently running new brake lines for new disc brake, master cylinder, proportioning valve conversion.

And the Sturgis does fit in the back.

Yep, vintage hot rod bike hauler '50 Chevy Panel.
Current motor in is a 235ci, solid lifter cam, Thickstun intake, Rochester BC carbs, '54 Corvette dual port exhaust at about 155-160hp. Drivetrain converted to open drive shaft with Saginaw close ratio 4spd tranny w/ Hurst Comp Plus shifter.

New motor on stand is a '56 235 out to 241ci, 848 head massaged a bit with new valves, stiffer springs and a Delta 254S solid lifter cam (higher lift and longer duration than the '54 Corvette cam) and Clifford long tube headers. Pistons, rods, crankshaft, harmonic balancer, flywheel and clutch pressure plate all balanced. Looking for 220 - 225hp with this motor.

Some of us like the British- Thai triples. I briefly considered a Tiger sport but wanted the fancy electronics package, Brembo’s and a tad over 100 horsepower.

The siren call is strong, resistance was futile... Took one out for a "test" :ride. ;)

Stepping through the settings... Dang, not enough miles to enter the "Wheelie Bat Shit Crazy" mode.

I almost bought an S1000 XR from a friend. It had the uncorked track pack (or whatever BMW calls it) and every conceivable upgrade. Nice bike, but for me the seat was way too low, and it didn't seem to "wake up" until you got pretty deep into the rev range. I'm sure I could have gotten used to the power/torque curve, but there is no way I could have done consecutive long days with that seat height relative to the foot peg position.

What I found out was there is about 4 different seat height combos on the new ones. Don't know about the Gen 1 bikes, 2015 - 2019. Low seat at 32.3', with Low suspension 31.1", Standard height 33.5" and with high seat adjustment 34.2". Maybe add 1" dropped pegs later, we'll see. Previous experience with a K1300 GT and K1300S is the "4's" responded very nicely when in the 3.5 - 4K rpm and above.

As for long rides like to Idaho and back in just over 21 hours for a cup of coffee or Tecate at 22 hours for a beer and back are fond memories now. No more of that kind of craziness anymore! But doing a 3 pass Sierra ride up and back. (y) Although, I stop about every hour or so for a butt break / Kodak moment now.
