They claim to be waterproof and insulated
Waterproof is the right answer for winter. I like a light boot for summer and for that I prefer non waterproof.
I’m on my second pair of Altra’s and they are waterproof but not warm enough for winter. Comfortable but not exactly what I’m looking for.

Yeah. I bought them for winter; we'll see how they do!

Picked up a mint 500mile 2018 Duke 390 two weeks ago. Just cleaned it up by removing its antlers, tail and passenger accommodations. Full pipe, airbox mod and piggy-back + tune are next on my way down the rabbit hole.
Pre-silencer and related deletes got the fully fueled wet weight down to 340lb and you can feel the difference.
The piggyback ECU and airbox mod arrive later this week and I'm expecting ~50HP with a dyno-tune.
Already dreaming about a 425cc big bore kit with a big valve head - which is good for 60-65HP.
So yes, I'm deep into the rabbit hole already.

A Miata and a Type R are a nice combo IMHO..

How would you compare the two.

I own a 94 Miata R I bought new and it is a bit crude which is part of the charm.

I'm sure the Type R is slicker in every way, and, obviously, considerably faster, but I'm wondering if it actually as much fun.

The Miata is a '97 M-Edition. It's a hoot to drive. Everything analog. Reminds me of my high school days (mid to late 90's). Fun to drive a slow car fast. Only mod so far is just mid-range adjustable coilovers. Top down fun is always great!

The CTR...it's on a completely different level. Yeah, it's FWD and a bit of torque steer. But man, does it pull hard from 2200rpms on up. Pretty much point the front end where you want and it turns (LSD helps!).

I'll try and take it to Cars and Coffee in Novato on Sunday and then drive some of the backroads of Marin County for a bit just to get a better feel of the car. No body beats Honda when it comes to the shifter. It's amazing and effortless compared to the Miata. I had a 2000 Civic Si (bought brand new) and I remember the shifter being very good.

Opposite ends of the spectrum but it's great to be able to live in both worlds.

Yeah, my wife's RSX S and TSX both had that manual 6 speed shifter and it was like buttah in both cases.

Enjoy.

Vintage Konica Hexanon AR 80-200mm f4 on Leica SL2-S

Vintage zoom lens on Leica SL2-S, shooting both still and video, at the same time.
It is perfocal (mostly). You can do crash zoom, like Tarantino.
Focus breathing is “tolerable”, which means, if you do rack focus demo with still objects in indoor setting, yes, you will see focus breathing. (All vintage still photo lenses do.)
HOWEVER, as you can see in the opening of this video, if you do it with moving object, outdoor setting, it’s totally acceptable.

About being F4.
It’s not as bad as you may think, especially if it is on full frame (or speed booster).
Because it is F4, the lens is plenty sharp even when it’s fully open.
And because of focal length, it will blur out both foreground and background nicely.

Rotating front element
Makes it a little tricky, to use VND and CPL filters. Pretty much impossible to use mat box(which I don’t use anyway.)
Probably I will make another video about it.

an art deco reading lamp to replace the one my son broke. but, i think i found a replacement glass piece for the other, which is amber instead of milk glass. i’ll test this one out and probably send it to dogfork to get rewired if it’s not in great shape.

Another baffling one, this time at Copart. 1999 Yamaha R6 (CA model) I ran across looking for a 06+ R6 for one of our employees to setup for the track. Ran across this and put a low prebid of $350 in and max of $2,750. I had no good info aside from the pics, but it was sold through Crashed Toys (Copart subsidiary) which is usually decent stuff. Knew the auction would blow up when it went live...waited until it came up and prepared for the worst (a loss or my max bid). No one bid on it. I was the only one...at $350 and turns out, it was NR (no reserve). Total with fees: $620. I took delivery two days ago. It's in almost perfect condition. Looks like it fell over inside with a few small blems. Runs perfect. No boot marks on the pipe, rash anywhere down low (or high), fork legs and front faring are in great shape. Bike's a 9/10. The new Pilot Power 2's on it cost more than the bike cost me....

Bizarro world strikes again.

Amazing score.

Biggest PITA carbs I ever removed were that gen r6.

I have a brand new OEM lower for one too still in packaging up on a shelf , but it's the red and white.
