So Who Rode in Today?

:love thank you Jeff.

Once I get some rain pants I'm golden. :) I'm at a point now where riding in the rain doesn't scare me like it used to when I was a total newbie.

I do, however, need a better, less foggy helmet.

Same here. I rode in my commuter today (95 zx6r) and it was actually alright..freeway an all.

SFcootz please try FogtechXD on the inside of your faceshield. It works well!

Found out today that the Futura's panniers aren't exactly water proof. Need to get some trash bags for my stuff :ride

Glad I put the rain liners back in my gear for commute warmness! Was not expecting that :).

May we all have good traction and a safe ride home.

A friend and I rode about two miles for a hot ramen lunch today. I didn't feel like gearing up in the glowstick for that short a ride, even though it was a bit cool, so I just wore my light around-the-office jacket. Was fine on the way there... but it started raining during lunch. Argh. By the time we got back to the office I was quite damp and cold and ready for more ramen... ><

It started to sprinkle about 2pm in Pleasanton where I work. The streets were wet enough to make the painted lines and manhole covers slippery. On my commute home, I did a routine right turn, and it's onto a big thoroughfare(4 lanes one way), and I lightly accelerated, but I was on a painted lane line, so I wagged the rear a little.

I prefer not to ride in the rain, just not worth the risk for me and I have a car but it was only 20% chance at 3pm, when I got off work.... it was fine though, just a little nippy.

Yup, got rained on pretty good this afternoon as well. But the gear held up nicely. I pulled my Icon SSR Alliance out of Mothballs and used it today. Turns out this lid does rain real well. Didn't have fogging issues and the water just flew off the visor.

Looks like we are gonna get more tomorrow...

Pinlock Hi-Def thingy rocks in the rain.. though it did fog a tiny bit around the edges while sitting at a long light. I also learned while my TPG Rainer jacket is quite good at keeping me dry unlike the AST 2 (note the AST 2 was also good at keeping me dry until the arm vent zipper buckled. I should contact Olympia because it's still under warranty) it really requires to liner to keep me warm and dry in 50-60 degrees + raining. Going to guess it's because the material is over all much less thick (less laminated layers). Buffalo Pros are surprisingly water resistant though which is nice.

Took the bike in. I all the rain happened while I was working. Didn't have a chance to try out the pilot road 3s today. Was fairly dry on the way home too.

Luckily the rain mostly passed by the time I left. Roads were wet, though. I was just extra careful.

Have no other safer way to work atm.

I made it home without getting rained on. But the bike had been rained on while it was sitting out, so I'm a little bit damp in a few places. I was a bit concerned when it was really pouring for a bit there, but that didn't last.

I gambled today and came out dry, but tomorrow I'll likely take the car. I admit that I'm a fair weather rider. :cool

My rain pants leak.

I noticed this when you buy bargain all-weather/rain gears. While some of them might still be good, a lot of them are only good for about 20-30 minutes. After that, water will start to soak in. Notice too that some of them won't last that long.

If you are going to ride in the harsher elements, don't just go with cheap, invest in the better gears. Comfort can mean a safer ride, plus less likely to get sick.

Ah, Pinlock. Gotta get one for the RF-1100. That's the only thing about that lid, the stock visor fogs pretty bad. The Pinlock setup should take care of it.

i got traction control and abs. wack the throttle open and slam on the brakes!

Rode from The City to Sonoma today around noon. Raining from the GGB on. I was wearing a non-waterproof textile jacket and some heavy Carhart canvas pants.

The outside edges of my arms got a bit damp and the neckline of my coat got wet from where water dripped off my helmet. Everywhere else- dry!

Gotta love the fully faired bike in the winter. :twofinger

Rode into Pacifica from San Mateo today on 280....solidified my decision to buy new gloves.

little chilly with damp and wet patches along the peninsula 101...no rain at 7am...i should have worn the balaclava...face was a little cold....but, dug out my winter gloves with wind shields...hands were warm...:teeth

no worries at 5:30 am. cold, rainy, dumb people who cant drive in said conditions.

FS cyclone, FS polar gloves, balaclava, A* softies.

got a little pee pee crotch but otherwise fine.
