Thailand pics

Man, the original pads that come in Joe Rocket gear suck. This has happened to both mine and a buddies (his were completely gone, this is mine now). Washed the AT today, topped off gas, oiled the chain, disconnected the battery, chained her up and covered her. Washing all my gear before I fly back to the US.

How do you store your bikes when you're gone?

How do you store your bikes when you're gone?

My place has a covered parking garage with security. I top off gas, park right next to security guard area under a camera, disconnect battery, big ass chain to a pipe (big pipe there for bike storage) with master lock on and a bike cover. And worst case I do have theft insurance on the AT. I know nothing is perfect but of the 100+ bikes there mine would be about the most inconvenient to take.

If I know I'm guna be gone a while I can get 100% benzine (no ethanol) but I'm usually gone less then 2 months so don't bother (also there is a LiquiMoly store local who sells ethanol treatment but it's easier to just use 100% benzine my last tank of the trip). I have only had to worry about old gas once. My bikes usually don't sit more than 2 months.

I have been storing bikes like this there for 7 years minus COVID. Just by chance I sold my Click right before covid planning to buy a bigger Aerox. So I didn't have a bike sitting during COVID and just did US/Baja trips on the VStrom.

So yah, I dropped my bike this morning on 162, airbag deployed. Was at like 5mph max after looking at a car that was for sale and the road was up a lip. I think I was going slow, turning and the lip caught my back tire stopping my momentum? It's weird, everything happened really fast at like 3mph. I was on the bike then the bike was on the ground. I didn't even know what happened or see it coming.

I heard a poof and my airbag was deployed and the bike was on the ground. Man, that thing inflates instantly. Guess I can't complain, bike fell and it worked. Just a few scratches on the bike and had to stop at Cycle Gear and get a new CO2 cylinder on the way home ($29). A guy stopped and helped me pick up the bike. Was a bit embarrassing.

This is new to me so just kinda interesting.

Put a new CO2 in my vest today. It's super easy, takes like 3 minutes. ($29) There's no "packing". Just put tether in place, screw the bottom piece back in which compresses the spring and replace the cylinder.

I was surprised how big the hole is it punches in the cylinder.

I'm in a group chat with our riding group. The August overnight trip just got canceled. Too close to the Cambodian border and the fighting. (n)

Made it back. The bikes started right up. My refrigerator took a shit. $240 for a new one (including delivery and taking away the old one). Rode down the beach this morning and got a coffee but now I'm sitting around waiting for the new fridge.

That looks like a good day. :thumbup

I'm back in the US now. This was a bit of a weird trip. 4 friends went down when I was in Thailand (I wasn't there). 3 in a group ride and one hit an oil spill on a big 350cc scooter. Looking at injuries and gear post hitting the pavement I'm making some changes. I have decided to go back to my older Klim induction mesh jacket and ordered a pair of gloves with a palm slider. (was guna get new gloves anyway)
