From the mountain to the sea! We really do have it good as motorcyclist here in the bay. Yesterday Yosemite! Today a quick ride to the city, down the coast to 84, across the Dumbarton to Niles/Palomares and home in time to watch yesterdays Supercross before the Superbowl

Pokie stuff !!! 😖
Since I got my FIRST FLAT EVER leaving Kernville or for that matter anything stuck in a moto tire, I've started to carefully try and scan the area in front of me looking for "POKIE" things as I pull off the road. Once stopped and before I leave I do another check on my path getting back on the road. Here's today's "POKIE" collection !!!
I don't think I'm going ta pull over on the shoulder of the road anymore!

But wait... there's MORE !!!

Post ride check!
FAWK, FAWKEDY, FAWK !!! 😫😡
Well, at least I didn't loose all tire pressure within 50 feet from a farging drill bit this time!
.
It's time for a dram or four of some Balvenie 12.

I haven't found a windscreen that's not noisy for the Multistrada so I've wanted to try riding it without the windscreen. Surprisingly, this seemingly small, non-mechanical change made a huge difference in the subjective demeanor of the bike, which went from feeling like a sport touring rig to a supermoto, like a 950SM with a stronger engine. Without the wind noise, the engine/exhaust sound came into focus; the bike felt brawnier, torquier, with a sharper throttle response. (This is like people changing the exhaust and believing their bikes run harder.) Without the visual bulk of the windscreen, the forward view opened up, the bike felt smaller, the front end felt more connected and responsive, and even the suspension felt more active. It's crazy that the visual/aural cues made it felt like I was riding a very different bike.

No pokey stuff but I kicked these things off the road there.

Ruby/Norwood - got there 'cause I got a little lost... Looks like a new temple complex.

Usually ride with mine (multi) in the down position, but when cold or on a long freeway run I will pop it up. I have always thought of the Multi as a FAT supermoto. Leg out and elbows up at times proves my point :teeth

I'm a huge believer in no screen is better

Never had wind protection myself, dunno what I'm missing really.
All depends on how far and the weather you are riding in. I have ridden sport tour bikes for close to 30 years. On a 400 mile day the wind will beat you. Nate* try a windscreen on on a long ride and see how you feel at the end of the day. In the summer I cut my Multi screen down to the point it was just over the instruments, still kept some pressure off. I have always liked to look over my screen and not through it.

*No one will ever say Nate has not put in some long days after his Alaska trip.:ride :hail

True

When I bought my used 2008 wee storm it came with a ridiculous harley-like windshield which I immediately removed and put on a shelf for the entirety of it's life with me.... except...

For the one long weekend trip I had to make from Truckee to Seattle and back when it would be raining half the trip on the way up. I put that big stupid thing on and tried to hide behind it as much as possible, thankful to have some of the cold wet wind off me for a while.
I rode from Seattle to Truckee non stop on the way back, only getting off to pee a few times.
Ate snacks from the tank bag while riding, drank from the camelback while riding, fueled up still on the bike, spent some time at absolute top speed on the wee, laughing that I had the throttle pinned in top gear and wanting for more. (Doing that on previous more powerful bikes would have been insane)
Just to see if I could. That was a tough ride and I was thankful for the big, dumb, ugly windshield.

Because pix thread... Pic of Mom posing with the bike at the hotel in WA

I would have developed wind-blast tinnitus anyway, but I’m convinced the windscreens on my K75s and KLRs hastened the process. :laughing :clown

obligatory pic … the stupid large aftermarket windscreen on my current “A” bike:

moonrise, from Payne Peak, Modoc County, California, 08/09/2025 at 6:11 am, with foolish previous-owner windscreen that I’m too lazy to deal with before I smash it falling over. :x
