2026 F1 thread, when season starts there will be spoilers.

Formula 1 organizers prepared for this eventuality. On Saturday night, they announced Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium, the climactic closer to a busy Miami Race Week, would be moved up three hours as a precaution against the severe weather expected during the originally scheduled racetime, 4 p.m. EST. The race is now expected to begin at 1 p.m. EST.

“Following discussions between FIA, F1 and the Miami promoter, the decision has been taken to move the start of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix to 13:00 [1 p.m.] local time in Miami due to the weather forecast that is expected to bring heavier rainstorms later in the afternoon, close to the original planned race start time,” F1 announced on its social channels.

Max is back. Back again. Franz is back. Back again.

Max is a talentless driver who only ever won because Red Bull cheated.

It's very clear what's happened. Red Bull paid off the FIA, who paid off governments, that started the Iran war, which canceled two races, which gave Red Bull the development time it needed to get a car that could compete with Mercedes, while not allowing the points gap to continue to grow.

I can't see why you sheep don't see this.

Calm your teats, Joe.

I'm not a fan of Max or RB but I wouldn't go so far as calling them cheaters.

Anyway......

....This was a fun race to watch. Poor Charles...

Oh I know, there's someone else who likes to pop in and pretend like any success Max has is because of cheating or special treatment. Full conspiracy type stuff.

Charles almost had it there at the end. Must have been really frustrating to lose two places in the last few corners.

Is everyone that wants to watch the race able to?

I still have the ability to rip the streams and put them on my Google drive. If anyone wants me to do that, let me know. It won't be available immediately, but probably by Monday morning.

I noticed my PVR was recording it yesterday so it’s likely been recording them automatically for years since it’s been that long since I watched a full race.
I normally just catch the 8 minute highlights on YouTube.

Carson Hocevar is on a roll the last few months. Won a NASCAR cup race and then won another in the lower tier series (Oreilly). His win celebrations are unique and entertaining. His connection with the crowd is excellent as well. I see a potential star being born....

Well, this could probably go in a couple of other threads but since it's F1 related, a really, really cool car and recent purchase it's going here.
Jim Clark is one of my all time favorite F1 Drivers. The #5 Lotus 49 at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1967. He won the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort (cars debut), Silverstone, and United States Grand Prix at Watkins that year.

He's my sister in law's cousin.

The family is elated for him as you can imagine.

Yeah, I remember you telling me that a year or so ago...neat connection (same thing I said then). He's good for the sport. Really good, I think. His playing to the fans is awesome, IMO.

Even if I went to NASCAR races no way would ii try to make a connection as some tertiary "in law."

But it is cool for the actual Hocevars.

His uncle Frank was a fantastic guy.

Drove a tank recovery vehicle during WW2, Cleveland Cop, one of the greatest Americans I've ever met next to my father in law.

Died last year at 100.

Merc seems to be the most vocal about changing the engine formula again. Maybe they are thinking the supposed 50/50 split btw ICE and electric isn’t a great idea. Merc still wants a hybrid system w the V8s, just with way more ICE power compared to today’s PUs.

Merc is also proposing changes to the PU balancing regs for right now. They want to give Honda all the upgrade tokens, saying it’s better for the sport. But the cheeky bastards also want to prevent the rest from upgrading. Because of course they would since their PU seems to be ahead.

How long until they just run electric motors only and the generator is ice? Ala Audi etron Dakar car?

That’s basically how the Honda Accord Hybrid works… (well plus 6th gear for fwy cruising)

With a generator you could have WOT exhaust noise anywhere on track!

Lol I think F1 would lose half its fan without an exhaust note that made sense. Not hearing upshifts or steady increasing exhaust note would be so bonkers.

Bump for the Canadian GP this weekend. It appears the Cadillac are bringing many more upgrades this weekend.

Both the Sprint and main event were good watches.

McLaren looked to be back on the front foot in the Sprint until they made a dumbass move in the main by going with inters.

Couple of big name mechanical DNFs made it even more interesting.

Mercedes looking dominant for sure with Russel's bad luck making for a runaway at the moment.

Ferrari still second in the standings which is surprising but Hamilton drove a fine race yesterday.
