Didn't see any ADV or Dual Sports today up at Knoxville. It's beautiful up there right now.

Yes,
Lot's of fire evidence. You can see fire lines that have been cut all along Knoxville / Berryessa road. Lot's of burned areas.. Mostly the route I was on was beautiful.

Was there an actual group that rode up last Sunday? I was gonna go and last minute my wife said we had a b-day party to attend. I plan on going next month if the weather permits.

Oh I'd love to!!! I just got a little TTR125 to help me find my mojo that's been missing for about 3 years. Hopefully by Spring :ride

I have to admit, I anticipate being a little spooked at those slimy water crossings :laughing

Also I love that tank on your bike. It is really confidence inspiring when you can actually see how much gas you have.

Looking for some input from others who have done this ride in the past please.

Is it suitable for a Vstrom DL1000 to do the off road sections ?

Depends on your ability. Every kind of bike has been on this ride. Basic dirt roads with some rocky sections, ruts, washouts, up hill, down hill, ect..

I hated it on my DL650 with Metzler Karoo 3's, but that was just because I didn't like the DL.. It was bigger and heavier than my KLR. I banged by bash plate a few times. My buddy killed it on his GSA and had a blast.

I've seen Sport bikes on this ride back in the early days.

Im mostly concerned with Reiff Road ... I've done a fair amount of dirt roads on the bike any idea how many miles it is ?

I last rode Reiff in July on a 250, pics here. It was in better shape than before due to being graded by CalFire dozers a month before. But in the spring when the road was much worse I rode with two others who were on Africa Twins and another on a big KTm who had no problems. All were very experienced dirt riders though. If in doubt just go slow in the rough sections. I have no idea of Reiff conditions right now, but it is a really wonderful ride. Some earlier pics here.

From Morgan Valley Rd / Berreyessa road to Hwy 16 it's about 13 miles
 
if people are going I might be interested, I assume that if a big bike can do it then a WR450 on 17s can do it
 
I'd like to try this Knoxville/Berryessa stuff one of these days. Will keep an eye on this thread.
