Slightly OT, but it looks like we’ll soon be seeing regular (non-vanity) CA passenger car license plates in the format 123ABC4 instead of the current 9XYZ456 format, which is finally running out of numbers after 46 years.

Ah is that what they're going to do? I was curious about that since the paper plates seems to be taking up the AABC123 values.
