Get Fit, Stay Fit, Feel Good - 2026

Last week sucked balls. Had to go to CT for work and only flight in I could get was through La Guardia. Imagine my surprise when I get to the airport at ass crack o'clock and my second leg is canceled due to airplane versus firetruck incident. Reschedule for the next day go back home get 2 hours sleep in then do some work. decide to go to the gym and hit the weights. Did bench and some other chest work and after that was like so exhausted I just went home. Crashed out and got up early again on Tuesday and hit the airport. Got to houston and delayed to La Guardia for 6 hours so finally get into NY at 7pm. Saw the wreckage on the tarmac on the way to baggage claim and it was not pretty. Got to office location at 9pm get hotel key and go to room only to find that someone is already in it. Thank god the person wasn't in it but saw all their stuff scattered around. got new room downstairs and this time no one was in it. did 2 days of meetings went back to NY to sleep in prep for Friday flight. Ate some food slept woke up extra early Friday and turned the car in and went to airport. It was a frigging disaster. After 2+ hours in line I had to go back to the gate agent twice to redo my boarding pass some stupid shit about my first and middle name on boarding pass. barely make my plane we take off and then all of a sudden it felt like an alien baby was going to pop out of my abdomen. worst 3.5 hour flight ever swore I was going to puke right before touchdown it was so bad but managed to keep my dignity intact. landed in houston and as we descended for some reason my abdomen got better. flew home from houston fine and then came home. Told my boss never going to CT again if he wants to meet we can go to our new office in Denver. F the NE. Long story took gym clothes but didn't get a chance to use them in hotel and can't wait until Monday to hit reset and start over.
Your story sucks and I’m sorry you had a shit week. :(

I pedaled 36 miles today but it was a social ride with a lot of pauses. I wore my new velosambas and I’m not sure if I’m breaking them in or they broke me in. Had two bottles of Gatorade, an ice cream, some dry mango and a brat at lunch. Experienced minimal bonk. Average speed about 11.2 mph. 1400 feet of climbing. Shoulders feel great.

My new hydration pack is the cat’s meow 10/10. Do recommend.

@two wheel tramp, think back 6-8 months…would you have imagined your recent rides? I’m truly happy for you and your success. Keep at it.
I’m honestly stoked and I’m not as slow as I thought. I did a good job keeping up with the crew. I’m now confident im ready for the fondo in April.

I like bicycles. :ride

@stangmx13 was it you who said cycling never gets easier, we just get faster?

I was chasing an e-bike nerd on a different route home than my usual. Two months of almost daily pedaling provides support for your hypothesis.
Same segment about 10 weeks apart. It’s not any easier. I am a little faster. 😂

I’m also at 463 miles for the year. :)

My first MTB race of the year is in the books. The local series Quick N Dirty put on Sagebrush Safari about an hour east of me at Corral Canyon OHV area. The main race was 31ish miles and around 4200ft of climbing. This thing was a real MTB race with some of the hardest trails I’ve ever done. There were plenty of boulders and rock drops, steep downhill ruts, fast sandy turns, and steep rocky climbs. I’m so glad I’ve been practicing w my dropper post.

I didn’t perform my best. It was another HOT AF race out there, with my computer showing 104F again. The heat got to me and I had to back it off. I did manage to pass a few people on the big climb in the final third. But my legs cramped on the big descents and they got back by. I ended up finishing 123% behind the winner - not great, not bad. The winner smoked everyone by 10min. I was only 115% behind 2nd lulz. Oh, I was 22nd overall and 8th in Expert Men 40+.

This race does give me a lot of confidence for my next MTB race in AZ. My practice has been paying off a lot. I cleared all the features on this course w no recon. I think the AZ race should be less technical. So doing that one also blind should be all good. The more comfortable I feel, the faster I can go.

Ya MTB races are no joke. And lots of that climbing is short steep kickers with rocks that take 10sec burst of crazy power just to get up.

The next race is 46miles and 6500ft of climbing at altitude in Prescott AZ.

damn that is cuckoo bananas! When is that @stangmx13 ?

My fondo is coming up April 25th and I’m getting excited.
Same day for me, Apr 25th
Great stuff on the race Robert and Reama is becoming a peddle addict. Love it.

April 25th is my birthday so sending all my good juju your way for your effort. My goal is to ride my moto.
Got on the bike over the weekend. Ditched the sock machine and working the range of motion to get the simple steps of putting on and taking off shoes and socks. It hurts, but doing it.

A long fucking way from your success, but I have noticed that if I am planning on the gym (which is 6 days a week)... like yesterday and get stopped because of work I get frustrated and pissed.

That to me is a really good sign. Honestly at this point the gym / workout is the best part of every day at least for my mental state.

Motion is medicine. I’m a much happier human when I get out and go versus not.

We’re gonna celebrate your birthday on two wheels, even if there’s no motor. :teeth

Couldn't wait to hit the gym last night as it was new shoe night. Nothing beats a new pair of running shoes. Found out last week during my airport runs that my old shoes ran out of juice toting my big ass everywhere at the gym.

So hit chest last night got in a new PR of 185 for 6 reps, so then did drop sets losing 5 pounds each set so ended up last set at 175. I really feel I could have hit 7 with a spotter but didn't want to take the change of dropping the bar on my ugly mug so had to stop at 6 reps. will continue at 185 until I can do 3 sets of 8. Also did some incline press and butterflys.

Then proceeded to go upstairs and hit the treadmill. Did some stretches and then got on the treadmill and got to 10 minutes at 4.4 speed. so at this rate by next Friday I should be at 15 minutes so the week after I will start increasing my pace. Will probably increase pace until I get to 5.5 or 6 pace we shall see how it goes. New shoes felt great and was not as winded as I thought I would be after 10 minutes. Starting to really feel like I am making progress now if only the scale would be more accommodating. :ROFLMAO:

I've been pedaling my ass off (by my standards) for months. My weight is exactly the same. Meh!

Numbers on the scale don't mean as much to me when the times keep dropping. :thumbup Muscle be heavy yo.
My right calf is rock hard when flexed. The left is still a lil' mushy, but that muscle is coming back nicely. My arms feel strong, too. I have no complaints because I am cute no matter what. :teeth
