I just placed a deposit on a Chinese Unicorn!

I can't buy this bike, three times, I flat decided to buy it no matter what.
Mistreating it was my intention, no way of transporting it, couldn't take it with me, unless I rode it.
If I return to Ca. for a visit, I won't have it with me, but back in Az.
It is too big for me to transport, too tall for the portal, to truck/airstream, and too wide @ 34.7"
Then I got into the owners manual.
So much to apply, so much to learn about the software, and the nanny black box, all this personalization, I don't want to deal with it. I just want to ride it, probably not enough to justify buying it.
Wasting it's abilities on a 73 year old guy, aging out of freeway travel, to lower speed highways.
I would be much happier with a simple dual sport, over this huge small displacement Adv bike.

Three nights of torment, me wasting the values of a new and potential break thru light weight designed Moto, my love of mechanical bits, not allowing my purchase to misuse my new bike.
Just what happened to me ?

Codona, these are decisions that take a lot of sleepless nights. I’ve been thinking of this bike for more than a year. Then I had to bring it up with the other half of the household. Then I was gifted the barf bike that spent 6 months in the shop. Then in those 6 months I went back to all the reasons I was sold on the little Ibex. Then I reached out to a CA dealer who genuinely was interested in selling the bike so I placed the deposit. Now, I wait.

As of March 15, 2025, while the 2025 CFMOTO Ibex 450 meets EPA emissions regulations and is available in 49 states, CFMOTO is still working on California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification for the Ibex 450 in California.

could you sign something saying you will only use it for offroad and then when the carb cert comes through you can ride on street?

My head is clear, and I feel good about my conclusion, to do without,
I'm giving up freeway, a BIG reason for NOT buying.
My head was already down this road, before the Ibex, a last chance, with a new Moto?
I dallied, entertained the thought, "what the hell, do it"
Three days over a week or so, selfish guilt, hammered back.
Instant gratification, is still available, , ,

The CARB sticker is very important and bypassing it is a good way to get a bike blacklisted. :(

Yes, that freeway thing…
I see myself starting most journeys from our place in upper Lake avoiding all things Bay Area. I’ve been planning a Canada Alaska trip and TAT for half a decade and believe this bike is the answer.
Now my sleepless nights revolve around Barbie the Beta. It is one of the most fantastic machines anyone will ever have the privilege of riding, do I need it? I do not but it’s a fantastic look for the stable.

That's the way aftermarket exhaust purchases work....

This has changed significantly in the last decade. CARB has gotten gnarly with enforcement of shops doing installs. Lots of guys paying $10K per instance for unapproved exhaust installs. Owners don’t seem to catch much grief unless they is off the wrong chippie tho.

Seems like pretty obvious work to decline for at least ten years now.

A member on another forum posted pics of his Ibex next to his Tenere 700 . I am an arthritic 65 year old who barely clears 5’1” most ADV bikes are huge. So yes for the OTD price I can get a used Tenere, 701 or 690 but those bikes are monsters. Then when you get into the 409 class they’re all singles or wild thangs like my Beta 430.
