I just placed a deposit on a Chinese Unicorn!

My understanding is that the bikes are indeed in CA. carb won’t accept the test bike until the model has cleared EPA which happened end of December. CARB received the Ibex in January and gives a 3-6 month window for certification. My hope is that because the Ibex uses the same motor as the NK it will just be a matter of printing and applying the sticker. Meanwhile, here I am tapping my little foot impatiently.

I hope you are right about NK and the other variants, but I have found that there are three levels of performance/tune from the 450, that may require separate levels of testing.

There isn't anything like Moto lust, it invades every thought. Makes you Want to ride the new one down to the Moto store and buy it, & ride it home. Cake & eating it too

Went down for another visit, looking for a VIN # to get my insurance started.
Got a pix, missing three digits due to a lens flare. and HAD to call.
New moto in the system they didn't have yet, so I'm waiting for a day or so.
Pix of new parts installed on the blue one,
One issue about the shock, bottom linkage is a bit exposed if you are grinding the bottom of the swing arm. skid plate doesn't cover this.
They have one of each color in crates, and the grey one on test ride duty, end of April.

Wait!!! WUT???? Are you purchasing one? Blue or Grey?
I'm not too worried about that linkage. My Beta has the link exposed but my riding has never caused it any harm. I doubt I'll be doing anything impressive enough on the "Teenyre" to ever endanger that link.

I believe I have myself talked into this, doesn't make any sense, or logic.
With all the red flags, nanny black box, too tall for me to transport with the truck, old age, n' such.
I may only get a couple of years with this bike, looking to poach Pink Jeep trails.
I feel like a heel for turning my back on my Triumph, to let her go, , ,
Blue or Grey, sounds like the looming civil war, pick a side, with a color.
I plan on having a very dirty bike, lots of red dust applied, the grey looks like stealth, dull shadowy, even in pix, no chrome. I would feel bad about doing this to that pretty turquoise blue. Leaning grey.

WEll, the Ibex is my 65th bday gift to me. I'm going blue and working on the TEENYRE 450 graphics since it keeps being called a mini tenere 700. I'm excited for you. If yours turns 7500 miles before CARB ticks the boxd maybe you can make me a sweet deal. Better yet looking forward to seeing our bikes together at the next rally.

Motorcycles aren't supposed to be logical, just fun 😁
Nate, you just nailed one of my favorite motorcycle dealership memories.
Many moons ago, I was with my friend Brian at K&B Motorsports in Petaluma.
Brian was interested in the sexy new ZX12R in their showroom. The sales guy did his job and pulled Brian right down the rabbit hole of a new sale. We wandered around the showroom floor while we waited for his credit check to go through. Not long after that, the smiling salesman said, "Good news, Brian...you're approved. I'll bet you want to ride it home tonight.
Brian was recently single and more than a little broke, but he really wanted the bike. It was a true "Angel on one shoulder/Devil on the other" moment.
Brian looked back at the eager salesman and said, "Let me sleep on it for a night. I need to rationalize this."
This is where the salesman earned his money and also finds himself quoted by me, so many years later.
He simply stood there and slowly gazed around him at all the sexy sport bikes on the floor, the nutso dirt bikes they had all prepped for fun, and the myriad of liter bike powered Jet Skis that surrounded the three of us.
He simply said..."Just look around you, Brain. There's nothing rational in this whole damn store!"
Brian still has that bike to this day.

Sounds like I may have a job, 7500 break in miles, grey market, imports to Ca.
I haven't seen the graphics TEENYRE ?
I will gear it down a little, about ten teeth or so.
Maybe even get a blue high front fender, the scratches will look horrible, though.

:party :cool :ride 🎉
I ordered lower crash guards, high fender and am looking for help with the graphic.

Awesome!!! :applause

Cdona this will solve the windscreen height issue. I own this hauler and it's perfect for the RV since I can have the hitch carrier and tow a trailer.1741734542628.png

I like you all too much to not say it once, don't buy these things.

Because China?
If Frank White would revive ATK I’d be all in. KTM is a mix between China and India. BMW is Indian. Honda is partnering with China. Triumph is Indian. Kawasaki went to Malaysia. So…

Kind of, but really just the value, because even butter soft steel has its place. $3999 otd okay maybe, but mid-$8's and up? Holy cow. There's a weird dichotomy where folks are interested because of the price but then it's a baffling choice because of the price. Radiator shroud is $300, gas tank is $950, it's all crazy money for what it is.

It’s quite a bit more bike than the Triumph 400x or the 390 ADV the reality is that the bike comes in at $6400 but by the time the dealer has it shipped, spends 2 hours on it, gives CA its fees then collects tax its $8000+ The bike ticks a lot of boxes and according to reports out of Europe has a respectable build quality.

Well hopefully it works out to be a good value. I came across one on FB where the guy paid $11k for one and is trying to sell it for $10k, so at least it's not that.
