I just placed a deposit on a Chinese Unicorn!

Stopped by the shop, and asked about tomorrows ride, pix shows three 450's
I believe the blue one is for an 'Influencer" out of Prescott, due in soon to pick it up, for a couple month test.
One of the grays is the demo, the other available, I'm also told there is another blue one, unsold in a crate, inside.

Tomorrow, , ,

I wish one was able to see what’s going on with the bike and CARB.

This seems SO wrong, Mr. Petty singing as I type this,
The shop, new meet old, new is way bigger than old, except almost half the displacement.
My turn around stop, above 6300' snow is hidden in the shadows, more due next two days.
Distracting reflections off the gas tank, zooming uphill, light easy shifting, it sings and smooth revs.
Galloping idle @ 1800, 1/8 turn of throttle slack, have to drag brakes downhill, little engine braking.
Lean surge, but wants to spin up and go, with 6 gears, I would gear it down for real dirt work.
Just looking at the tidbits, this is a dirt bike, not a street bike, like that too.
I got a bit of face buffeting in the 50 mph range, IDK about 70 per into a headwind, better or worse.
That binnacle, so proud, and trendy, hate it.
Looks like a lot to learn on this bike, software modes to play with, and bluetooth charging.
Brochure says $6500, can that be right? Tariff ?

I love your ride report and impressions. With freight, setup, title, tax and registration just shy of $8300. Others have been quoted north of $9500 :wtf
I believe it will be well suited for me as all it will do is rally’s and forest road rxcursions
. Love your photos.

Here is my post with the shops Phone #, posted in "pix on location" , I thought this post was here, now it is.
I did overhear the asking price, and confirmed it @ $8600. I need to ask about the supply over the summer.

I did read from the brochure about CFMoto Ridesync, somewhat a black box that rats out EVERYTHING to Siri, that the gyros do for your performance, breaks down stuff like acceleration, panic braking, route taken, average speed, overall time on road, +
All sent to a/your iPhone, They have my test ride documented.
The accessory catalog,

I am super happy to see this type of bike being built but the other manufactures are responding. I get it, it's the newest shinny object being pumped by influencers. But I'd wait to see the new 390 before making a decision. (BMW450 seems to be further out?)

$8300 buys you a LOTA bike on the used market!! And reselling a Chinese bike outside the community that really understands what it is might be hard?

I placed a deposit at the end of January. The price is just under $8300 out the door. Some dealers are putting in a lot of markup and I have heard OTD prices as high as $9800 :wtf

One of the reasons that I am super excited about the little Ibex is the twin engine. I don't care how great your single is. it's still going to be screaming at 75mph. The KTM390R that gives you that desired 21" front wheel is looking at closer to 35" seat height with the same ground clearance. A used KTM 390ADV is again an even less sophisticated single. For me I generally hang on to bikes for 10+ years so as a 75 year old don't think I'm overly worried about resale. CF Moto reminds me of Honda in the 60s, they're building something the world wants and delivering it at an affordable price in today's market.

Over to the dark side ; Twins,

You do know, there is only one way to make a thumper out of this bike.
Ya gotta Twingle it.
Step 1, need a parallel twin 360* crank.
Step 2, Need the cam cut and reindexed to bring both cylinders timing, as one.
I believe NSU made a two stroke twingle, much like poppin Johnnys
or,
TwingleX ?

TwingleX

:rofl

I kind of dig it.

Just got off the phone with Rich at Auburn Power Sports. He says the CA scheduled bikes are here in the USA sitting in crates waiting for their CARB sticker. I was worried that there were no California committed bikes and that I'd get hit with tarrifs. :facepalm

COME ON CARB!!!!

Cut her loose!!!!!

I don’t know what’s going on with CARB they have not updated their executive order summary page since June 2024. It’s impossible to get a response wrt anything issued after January 1, 2025 you just get looped back to the out dated page

Work tends to slow when you fire everyone, ask Google about their new 60 hour work week sweet spot. Hopefully there's someone out there with a folder full of stickers who's still doing their job.

I may have figured it out, sleeping on the thought, Why the holdup?
These Ca. bikes should be in Ca. now, wouldn't be economical to store home office, in Minnesota. Maybe even stored in Customs, not Officially released for private storage.
These bikes have left the factory without the CARB tax/smog stickers, because they weren't generated early enough, in the production cycle, or installed.
Cracking open the shipping crates, and stripping the bikes to access steering heads, to apply the CARB stuff. Repackage, send.
Question, Customs or CF Moto doing the work??
