Tesla Model 3: End of the Internal-Combustion Engine?

Taycan sales = 0

Wait, you're telling me that the car that hasn't gone on sale yet doesn't have any sales?! Inconceivable!

Porsche will sell every Taycan they make. Of course, they won't sell anywhere near Tesla volumes, because they're making a beautiful, refined, high performance EV for a small market of enthusiasts who appreciate exceptional design and engineering, not an appliance that looks like it was carved out of a block of wood by a fourth grader for the Pinewood Derby. And Porsche customers don't tend to be early adopter nerds.

Some guy on Inc calls people buying Tesla shortsighted.. because it's built by software engineers.

The Insane Shortsightedness of Buying a Tesla
Do you really want an automobile that crutches on software written by burned-out programmers?

He's wrong. Software engineers are the smartest people.

Of course, I'll have to actually drive the car, parallel park it, and walk across the parking lot. But, you know, I never really saw any of that as much of a bother. In fact, when I think about it, the real reason I wanted to buy a Tesla is because I'm a gadget-head. This is just one case, though, where I'm going to ignore the craving for a shiny new toy.

He's right about that one.

I think most people would agree that the Model S is a beautiful car, when it comes to 4-door hatchbacks.

The styling really lost something in the translation from the concept. It went from 918->Panamera.

Looks good to me, similar but better than a Panamera.
In the looks dept it actually kicks the crap out of every other electric. That said the Tesla isn't an ugly car.

Porsche's electric model rollout is on a different plan than Tesla. Previous Porsche all electric's haven't gone well, so they're trying something different. I'd bet a Porsche loyalist does not cross shop a Tesla.

When I read the parts difference and cost difference in an electric VS ICE powered vehicle I was shocked: 30%. So, 30% cost savings...then it all made sense to my why we see the revolution and how different companies are shifting to this while not losing their loyal customer base. Tesla does not have that problem. Their loyalist base is all about electrics...

it's a nice looking vehicle. The Model 3 is not, IMO. The passenger compartment sits too high, in a bubble like look.

I guess I'm not one of the "most". I think it is inoffensive but bland. If I bought one, it would not be for its appearance.

You could edit that to instead say waiting for any of Elons bogus Twitter claims. :laughing

Is that somehow a bad thing?

Model S is the sexiest looking full size hatchback, IMO. Definitely prefer it to the Panera.

Do you also prefer it over the Togos and the Subway?
