The End of Car Ownership: 2026 cars and beyond

We owned an RSX S and then a TSX with manual tranny back in the day and they were both great cars.

Acura is doing so poorly the local long term Acura dealer turned into a Mazda dealer.

I was never a fan of the entry level Acuras over their base Honda models. I had a couple of Integra’s. They were pretty bare bone and nothing impressive over the Prelude’s at that time. Same with the TSX, it’s barely distinguishable from the civic.

TSX was basically a Euro Accord; longer than the Civic.

No Civic at that time has a 205 hp engine.

The lighter Si had 197hp at the time.

Sadly all the new Hondas have turbo engines.

I loved their normally aspirated engines from back in the day.

Honda should never kill the J35
Had that lump in my first two TLXs. Very much preferred it over the K20 turbo that’s been in #3, 4, and 5. On paper, the peak power is roughly the same, but there’s a much flatter torque curve with the turbo 4. So the K20 should be the better engine for the car….it ain’t. Just has no personality to it. And of course turbo lag is still a thing. Worst part is, the smaller turbo 4 powertrain doesn’t get even the slightest bit better fuel mileage compared to the old NA V6 powertrain. I see the same thing on my mom’s 2018 RDX AWD with the J35 to my wife’s 2021 RDX SH-AWD with the K20.

So is the reason for the change that the smaller turbo engine is cheaper for them to make?

Just make sure it's a pre electronics dozer. I work for a heavy equipment dealer and all of the machines built in the last few years have a suite of electronics that include tracking, geo fencing, remote datalogging, remote disable along with monthly subscriptions for features such as grade control, high flow hydraulics, etc.
Some new machines come with features on for a 750 hour trial period, then the feature disables itself. Want auto-articulation turned back on? That will be $1200 please.
Good to know! :laughing

I just know I’m not likely to have any issues with the J35.
However if I lived in Denver or Albuquerque, at a mile above sea level I’d take the turbo to not suffer the 20% power lose of the nonturbo.

Meh, this was always incoming.

Pretty sure barf had a pretty long kitchen soup thread about heated seats in bmws becoming monthly pay to use like a decade+ ago?

Everything is software controlled now and forced upgrades where you have to pay to play
