TV Shows I am enjoying …and Movies

Yea, Rocky was fun.
The way he sacrificed himself to save Ryan...
Amazing.

I wouldn't have done it...
I loathe Ryan Gosling.

Oh sorry...SPOILERS

:TEETH
Motorcycle related - I just went through Long Way Round and Long Way Down. Enjoyed the scenery of all those countries I'll probably never get to myself.
Welcome to 21 years ago.

:snicker

vikings wasn’t all bad, but the lead male character was a complete and total asshole. if i was his wife, great lay or not, i would’ve stabbed him in the chest with a pitchfork.
Travis Fimmel is is a really good actor but yeah overall his character was a serious dick. The only other role I know him is the HBO show Raised by Wolves. They canned it after 2 seasons and also removed it from HBO Max which I never understood because I can still watch HBO shows from the 90s.

If anyone liked Vikings and hasn't watched The Last Kingdom, you should. Another really good Viking show. There's some crossover of characters but it's historical fiction so the backstories of those characters are very different.

Sean Penn won another Oscar for his role.

Supposedly he is a real asshole in real life but that came through loud and clear on screen.
He wasn't too bad when I interacted with him 35 years ago.

He has THREE Oscar's now...Which is flipping amazing.
I remember when he played that guy in jail with the bad guy from the last 2 Mission Impossibles...who raped his girlfriend, Ally Sheedy...
Esai Morales...Bad Boys?
That was right after Spicoli...77 frigging movies...Dude needs his own thread

He married Jenny Gump (Robin Wright)...Who back then...Was quite the piece of ---
Almost 15 years they were together...'96-2010
Also...Before her was Madonna
Also also...His kids are named Dylan (Bob or Thomas?) AND Hopper...Yo, Sean...that's a last name.

He used to have a place in Marin County...Maybe he still does...
Damn...His brother Chris has been dead 20 years...R.I.P.
He and De Niro have the same birthday...August 17...'60 and '43...
Robert has just TWO Oscars...LOL

Academy Awards...Don't get me started.

:teeth

Kinda like...insert nearly everyone here

But they make great stoves...right?

:teeth
LOL, most everyone is NOT greatly romanticized.

Vikings were simply the greatest pirates in history. Elevated, because their religion was also one of the coolest in history.

Sometimes I see something I have seen ten times and just go… yeah why not.

Just dive into Remo Williams.
It is actually a martial arts movie of sort.

I should also point out that Tom Hanks and Apple TV have a movie "Greyhound" about a a destroyer captain escorting a convoy during the Battle of the Atlantic.

it's pretty good too.

Just dive into Remo Williams.
Yea, that was a fun movie.

Trivia, a friend of mine has (had?) the entire collection of Destroyer books that the movie is based on. They're pretty fun reads too.

Oh dear, I enjoyed that old thing, but the Fu Manchu era of fake Asians in films has not aged particularly well.

Apparently, the IMAX theater at the Tech downtown San Jose has a blue angels film. That could get you nauseous.

I have no idea when they will play it, but it is in their inventory

Watched Scary Movie 6 last night. Welcome back because Scary movie 3 and 4 were terrible, especially after how great 1 and 2 were.

Shawn and Marlon Wayans really brought took the reins back after the train wrecks of 3 and 4. There was a lot of the cast from the original Scary Movie in fuckin 2000 that came back. Same opinion as I had 26 years ago, if you're not really a horror movie fan, or a least seen the main ones from the past decade or so, might not be for you. There's a ton of references (but that's what spoofing is, no?}

I watched The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare last night. Liked it a lot and to my surprise my wife like it as well. I know it's older but it was on my had to watch it list but got forgotten about then it popped up on Paramount+ so it got watched as I had 2 hours to kill.

The Hitl^H^Hstory channel is running a 20 episode series on WWII narrated by Tom Hanks.

It's really good.
I watched Masters of the Air recently. One of the Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg WWII series, along with Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Highly recommend all of them
