Unswagtastification of my Speed Triple

Well my Experia ended up only being down for a few weeks. I thought it was going to be a lot longer so I got a gas bike to get around on. I always liked and wanted a Speed Triple... and now I have one. My apologies for the shameless self promotional video but it's the only "before" images I really have. I describe the bike as being #YOLO Swagtastic with all the bling.

I thought it might be fun to chronicle turning it into a mostly stock bike that's a bit more my particular style. Understated, practical, and capable is what I'm shooting for.

Finally watched your well done little video and I wholeheartedly agree.

How loud is that very expensive slip on?

Objectively it's not too loud at all. I find it has a nice little burble.

I don't hate it.

But ever since I had a Ducati 916 poster in my dorm with that rear 3/4 view.....

Dual under seat exhaust > every other configuration

I'm putting the stockers back on exclusively for that reason. I may someday find a set of cans that don't delete the Y pipe, but I have the stockers in a box in my garage, so that's what's going on.

How are the stock plastics? In decent shape?
They are in fine shape....but

They don't match the pearl in the white of the tank.

The plan is, when I get the metal parts squared away, I'm going to wrap the tank, fly screen, seat cowl, and red side panel accent pieces in satin black vinyl with gloss black logos on top. I like the look of black and carbon.

I would definitely keep blinging that out - a Corbin seat with pink highlights, then some color-coordinated wrap. To be unencumbered by colors is masculine. IMO, I'd ask a few Millennials about what looks good as they tend to have a better fashion sense, generationally speaking.

Seems like a great project - have fun in the twisties!

As far as projects go, I'm loving it. It's not a project to rebuild, or finish, get running or anything. Its just getting it to match my personality.

Compared to the giant 600 pound bikes I usually ride (My Experia, and my 1190 Adv before that) this thing feels like a pit bike.

I hear you. I've been reviewing some of the Tour De Bay footage for color schemes that are classy yet stand out a bit. The Triple has that tight wheelbase - when I see them the riding looks fluid and nimble.

I like some targeted performance farkles that might add some color contrast, but when you go too far in the autozone accessory aisle just for the sake of change it becomes swagtastic.

A lot of the engraved items are from All Things Chrome in TN.

There’s a huge aftermarket for Hayabusa stuff.
It’s a cult in places like FL and TX with the fat tire kits and turbochargers and roll racing.
I’m not into any of that.

Click on the link below, then click on shop for bikes. You’ll see some wild stuff.

To farkle, or not to farkle.
 That is the question
There doesn'tseem to be a firm consensus either way.
Beauty lies in the eye of the farkler.
Just another example of why they make chocolate and vanilla.

I always subscribed to the clear difference between farkle and bling.

Farkles add a function, whether necessary or not. Like too many aux lights or nav screens the size of a laptop. The tipping point between too much and not enough is subjective and based on the owner's tolerence for dealing with distractions while riding.

Bling is just for decoration, and the tipping point between too much and not enough is purely subjective and based on the owner's taste.

The only occupant of the Venn diagram overlapping space between bling and farkle is the mirrors on a classic scooter.

:teeth

Team Vanilla. Plain and delicious.
