I want to be fit for life but it sure would be nice to not have the belly and love handles anymore. Feels like its going down because shirts and stuff fit looser now and have to retighten the drawstring on some shorts to keep them on but the gut is the last to go. I think I will start restricting my calorie intake more in order to lose it just a bit faster although I think the cardio on the treadmill will help as I get up there also in the next few weeks.I have stopped caring about my weight and I am more concerned about being fit for life.
I try to be self-kind.
I'm going to take an Island tour with Norwegian Cruise lines next week with my mom and sisters. How's the weather? I'm hoping to get some swims, hikes and maybe a run in.My training has been put on hold for a week. I don’t have any way to take my bike to Kauai. But I’m sure I’ll go on a run or two with my wife

I went to Hanalei Elementary for a year WAAAAY back in the 1980s. Have a great trip and eat a shave ice for me.@Mike95060, it’s a bit windy and feels cooler than it should but otherwise great. Our house is on the south side so way less wet than Princeville and the north side.
@budman, the cliffs here are mind boggling.
Indeed and the State just says go for it at your own risk. I was quite surprised at how risky was acceptable risk.@budman, the cliffs here are mind boggling.
We are in Kahaleo. On the edge of the Kauai coffee plantation.I went to Hanalei Elementary for a year WAAAAY back in the 1980s. Have a great trip and eat a shave ice for me.
Not that I recall. You're asking an Oregonian, though. We are in Kahaleo. On the edge of the Kauai coffee plantation.
Did it rain all the time in Hanalei?
AS IF.lol I’ll be in Kauai on the 15th, but with my MTB.
Supposedly the riding isn’t great because it’s all private land.
Yes, going on a vacation right before a big race is probably the worst way to taper. Some of the family actually asked me to skip the race. I tried to get them to move the vacation after the race, but here we are.

I’m saying bike prayers.@Ridley
Bike bags are $600-900 these days. Most US airlines charge their checked bag fee. So if you get it under 50lbs, you pay $35-40 each way. Hawaiian Airlines charges $100 btw mainland and $25 btw islands.
We are flying SAN to LIH w Alaska on the way there. So prob $35. Then on the way back it’s LIH to HNL with Hawaiian, then to PHX with Alaska. So prob $60.
Our Evoc bags are 22lbs plus extra for more padding. So you need an XC or great Trail bike to get it all under 50lbs.
Kauai is the wettest place on earth. Not that I recall. You're asking an Oregonian, though.
Also, walking in sand is supposed to be hella good exercise, and I can't suggest going out for a snorkel strongly enough. It was one of my very favorite things to do when I was there.
