I just placed a deposit on a Chinese Unicorn!

What're it's competitions bikes?
KTM 390ADV-R or 390x the R specs are closer to the Ibex but the x is similar price point
Triumph 400x Scrambler
BMW R450GS

All these are similar hp but single cylinder with 19” front wheels

Another night of torment !
Too tall to fit into any of my transport options but one, cargo trailer. I would need to clutter the floor with tie downs to make it work. It still leaves me with the concept that to visit Ca. , one trip with the airstream AND one trip with the cargo trailer.
Not legal to run two ball hitches in tandem.
That binnacle is 54.7" per manual, I got 55" quick measure, airstream portal is 52", truck portal is 55"
my Triumph is 48", TW is a bit less. 450 way bigger length and width, probably couldn't slide past it when parked inside the coach either.
I can't get past this, unless I change my living style with a stick house, and different vehicle, in order to visit Ca. again. I'm planning this process to take two years.
No thought to riding the 450 to visit Ca. either.
RED FLAGS makes it hard to sleep, dreaming about a new Moto.

I couldn't do bikes from companies like these for parts price/availability alone.

I looked into dealer support. In the Bay Area CF Moto has options.
Additionally CF Moto has operated within the USA since 2005. They’ve built a good name for themselves through the ATV and ranch vehicles. I have only heard of one 2024 450 bike having an issue and CF Moto did an engine swap instead of repair.
Parts availability should not be worse than Aprilia :laughing

CDONA, wouldn’t that hauler work for you. It’s basically a hitch extender with only one ball attachment.

I have talked with management here, they talk about service training, and how/what they learn.
They believe in what is taught, will get the job done, as needed, no half measures, no BS.
I'm not worried about this, just too tall to transport.
That rack won't help at all unless it goes on front bumper, and too big to see over.
Hang that on the back of the truck with bike, then add the airstream?
Airstream won't handle bicycles on the back bumper, it separates floor from frame.

There's something to be said for something like a DR650 where you can get on eBay and choose from hundreds of front brake calipers and rebuild kits for under $50. The front for the Ibex450 is listed at $600 and the rear at $350. Would something else fit? Maybe, then comes the fun of turning every part into an engineering exercise.

Byke, I really love you but I don’t want to ride an old tractor that beats me to bits on a trip. I sold the NC because as I age I am getting smaller. I have been looking for a small capable twin that I can kit out for under $10k
I like new as I am constantly fixing up old crap and I don’t want to do that anymore. My preference for riding is on unpaved roads some 2 track and also like being able to get to those places comfortably.
I believe any MODERN bike will consist of expensive bits. I also believe that Brembo will be developing systems for the Ibex although what it’s equipped with is perfectly adequate. So far the MT/Ibex is developing a substantial aftermarket following. It’s already listed on Rocky Mountain.

Depending on the truck, I’ve used this rack with the Tundra and a smaller cargo trailer. It was long and the Tundra’s air shocks were maxed. The Ibex is almost 100lbs lighter. If you’re truck is a 250 I think it would handle it fine.

You can always upgrade bits, but I s a brand new bike, I highly doubt it's gonna need parts / work from normal use and abuse. All of my bikes are still on their original brake bits after many years and many miles and questionable maintenance 😆 as Gwynne noted, the folks at Bike World in the UK thrashed this thing off road and it held up fine and performed pretty well.

yezz, the killer-app for this CF Moto is the twin cylinder engine in a relatively light dual/sport or ADV style frame.

I don't really consider any single cylinder bike to be comparable to the unicorn, except perhaps on price? :dunno

so maybe the Kawk VERSYS-X 300?

I'd buy a CF Moto unicorn--or the Versys 300X, if they ever put the 400cc twin in it, with a 21" front wheel. :laughing

anyway ... "Best of BARF" thread, imo. :toothless

My airstream is just above 8 k loaded, add a 4' stinger and 400 #s, that leverage would give me so much rear sag and bounce. No amount of hitch stabilizers, spring/shock assemblies, could calm my speed wobble fears.
Have yet to hear from Dairyland about my quote.

They're on Rocky Mountain? That's pretty cool. What's it listed under on Rocky Mountain?

Looks like the regular stuff, brake pads levers , oil filters. Aftermarket crash guards and skid plates.

Not sure if too big, but this is coming up at NPA. It's in preview now. Condition of 81 is good. Probably $7,200 or so all in, FOB SD NPA (Auction).

Elk Grove Powersports is a CF Moto dealer. I purchased one of my Ducatis from them and had an excellent experience throughout the process. The longish drive was definitely worth it, considering the competence of the local dealer.

They were on my short list but Auburn really sold the bike to me. They were willing to quote an out the door price and they’re a Beta dealer to boot.
